For what it's worth, I just communicated with Silicon Dust about the expected release date and cost of their upcoming 6 tuner Prime model.  They told me that they do not have a release date yet but that they had stopped manufacturing the current generation of their 3 tuner model (which would suggest that the newer models, including the 6 tuner model, are coming out very soon).  They also told me that the expected cost of the 6 tuner model would be about $199.

Lets hope that that it happens this time.  I'm ready to jump off my WHS2011/MCE/Ceton setup and move to a NAS/EMBY/LIVE TV solution, all depending on the release of the SD HDHR 6 turner .  Keep a watch on the forum, i'm going to be asking for ideas on the most common NAS brand/model which has the largest following to build this new solution.

Kinda weird that they will discontinue the prime given the new devices price point. At 199 it is almost double the price point of a hdhr prime. i guess they figure most people would buy the 6 tuner version instead of the 3 tuner version anyway.

Lol can't say they are wrong either, i have the prime and i am itching to upgrade to a 6 tuner version ( assuming it will play well with emby ).

I don't think that they will discontinue all 3 tuner HDHomeRun Prime units.  Rather I suspect that they are going to offer 3 and 6 tuner options with a new case and likely new processor(s) as well.  My reading is that they stopped making the old version of the 3 tuner model in preparation for the new one.

Speculation, but it would be consistent with what they told us in January touting the new look of the 6 tuner model.

Wel, from the looks of it they have stopped making the hdhr 3 cc. I cant find it for sale on silicone dust at all and the hdhr 6 is still listed as coming soon. The funny part for me, with how much we have started using emby around the house and have been recording so much stuff i think i would go for the 6 tuner version anyway once its available. I think i will probably be making a script also to clear all the tuners at least nightly since my wife seems to hit the home button rather than the back button at least once a day when she is done watching live tv.

Yes, it now seems almost certain that they are discontinuing the three tuner version in favor of the six. I too would not buy a three if a six were available at a reasonable markup.

I wonder if the delay in the rollout is the cable cos. balking about a six tuner option that will cost them equipment rental revenue.

I doubt that is causing the delay mostly because the three tuner version already does that. It's likely considered a very small market to the cable co. Plus if the cable co wanted to they could charge per tuner available on the device since they marry the cable card to the equipment they must have some knowledge of the device itself. I hope it comes out soon. Would be nice to see an update on the release date since it's well past mid 2018 now.
