Library Scan Stuck at 69% - just Music, no Plugins

Hi Everyone,

First off, huge thanks to the dev team for the awesome support they've provided us over the years!

I currently have a fresh, new installation of Emby Server 3.2.60.0, with no Plug In's enabled at this point.

I setup a single Library, consisting of the Content Type ''Music''.

When setting up the Library, I only have ''Download artwork and metadata from the internet....'' checked.

All of the folders in my music library follow the proper naming convention: Artist --> Album --> track1, track2, track3, etc.

I have all my MP3's meticulously tagged.

Anyways...the library scan needed up being ''stuck'', so to speak, at 68.4% for several hours now.

I went ahead and stopped Emby Server and enabled Debug Logging, restarted and re-kicked off a Library Scan.

Again, the scan took about 10mins to get to 68.4%, and it's been stuck there for about 90 mins.

Attached is the log...is there anything I'm doing wrong at this point?

Thanks!

Hi, did you forget to attach the log? In any case, I don't think it is stuck. I would just be patient and allow it to finish. Thanks !

It's not stuck, it's fetching metadata.  If you tail the log you will see exactly what it's doing.  Just let it finish.  Subsequent library scans are significantly faster once the first one completes.

Thanks Luke, yes I did forget to attach the log, it's attached now.

I'll just let the library scan sit for a while then, thx!

Thx again to Luke and mastrmind11 for the quick replies yesterday!

It's been almost 24 hours and my Library Scan is still sitting at 68.4%.

I'm uploading my Emby Server's two logfiles, one from yesterday and one from today.

The logs continually show the same exact info:

I can't tell if what's being logged is good or bad.

My Music library is a total of 203 GB, 2,945 Folders and 45.477 files.

Is that too much to tackle in an initial Library Scan?

I'm thinking I'll create a new Library, copying smaller chunks of content into the new Library and running individual scans against it.

Or, should I just let it continue to sit and spin for a couple more days?

Thanks!

Hi Everyone,

Pretty much the same exact issue I was having last week, wherein Library Scans would cease to progress past a certain percentage and remain so for days on end.

About 24 hours ago, I went ahead and uninstalled Emby Server, removed all traces (both via the uninstaller and manually), rebooted and reinstalled.

I created a new Library consisting of the Content Type: Music, and named ''Music''.

The new Music Library consists of 67 Folders, 1,072 Files and is a total of 5.35 GB.

There's a total of only eight artists in the Library and about 30 albums.

It's in no way a massive Library.

At this point, the Library scan has been stuck at 69.1% for approx. 24 hrs.

In all of the itineration's of MB and Emby, I've never had a Scan just sit for days and days on end, it's a new phenomenon since I started having to use 3.2.60.

I'm not doing anything different than I've done with every previous MB and Emby build I've had - just install it, feed it a couple libraries and that's in.

I used to have huge libraries consisting of TB's and thousands of objects, and new scans would finish relatively quick...at least they'd finish.

We can't just say ''just be patient and let it finish''. There's no way we can say that it should take several days for a scan to finish against a relatively small library.

Attached are the logs, with the Enable Debug option set.

If there is anything I'm doing wrong, I'd love to know exactly what I'm doing wrong.

Apologies for coming across like a whiner, but I've been dealing with this whole ''stuck library scan'' issue ever since 3.2.60 was released. I'm not crazy, I'm not making anything up. Trust me on that.

What happens if you just create a temp library w/ just a few albums and try to scan only that one in?  Curious to see if that finishes at all either.

Guest asrequested

Take a look to see if it's getting stuck on a particular file. Sometimes, there is a file that is having a problem being scanned. I've experienced that, and once you remove the file, the scan completes.

Hi everyone, apologies for never replying back, that was not cool of me.

Real Life got in the way...

Long story short, yes, the scan finally finished.

I kept looking at the logs, there where some files that where causing issues, so I deleted them, rescanned and it eventually completed.

Again, much thx to @Luke and @mastrmind11 for the feedback

Thx!
