lespaul 0
I'm using Emby Theater with madvr and refresh switching. I have it configured to switch back to 60 hz when the video exits. If I watch a 24p movie, the refresh will switch properly. When I stop the video and return to the emby theater menu, it switches back to 60hz like it should. However, when I exit out of emby theater entirely, the refresh rate switches back to 23hz so I have to go into windows settings and change it back to 60hz. Other than this issue I really like the app. I am on Win 10.
Solution lespaul 0 Posted August 21, 2016 Author Solution Share Posted August 21, 2016 I think I figured it out. I had madvr installed on my computer already. Maybe it was interfering with the madvr that came with emby theater? Anyway, I disabled automatic resolution switching inside the emby theater app so madvr handles resolution switching now. It works as it should.
Luke 36879
Interesting, i would not have expected a conflict but i'm glad you have it working. thanks.
tman 47
That is interesting. I too have had problems with this. Usually a problem with the refresh rate not being detected properly and a subsequent black screen on playback. On pressing stop, the desktop comes back, but it's still at 24P rather than 50P. So, what we're saying is that you might not need to config ET to switch refresh rate IF you're using MadVR AND that has the correct display mode settings. Is that correct, or is that not how it's meant to work?

Obviously it can be hard to keep up with new developments so it's possible this is no longer the case, although it's the first i've heard of it. AdrianW 1052
I've had a similar issue - but I think it occured when MadVR crashed which left the desktop at 24Hz. The the next time playback is started, it thinks the desktop is supposed to be 24Hz - so stopping playback causes the refresh rate to switch back to 24Hz even if it was playing back at 50 or 60Hz. Fixing it is just a case of dropping out to the desktop and setting the refresh rate to 60Hz again in Windows (right click desktop > Display Settings > Advanced Display Settings > Display Adapter Properties > Monitor > Screen refresh rate). If MadVR ever crashes you need to keep an eye on your PC's refresh rate - usually it is quite easy to spot as sideways scrolling in ET will be very jerky.
