Quick background.

WMC Media server housed 8TB of misc media on a dedicated PC running MBServer. 3 PC's (1 living room, 2 bedrooms) using MBClient via WMC & 1 XBox 360 pulling data with no abnormalities. 1 week ago, server went to heaven (or hell I believe). I have sinced moved all media to the living room PC first uninstalling ALL MBrowser files, then installing MBServer & MBClient. Disconnected all other PC's at this point.

All works as it should, but there is a 30 second delay from the time I click the "Media Browser" button within WMC to the time the "User Profile" page is displayed. No add-ons. No apps. It's not drive spin-up either.

So... what could cause this? what can I provide for diagnosis?

Thanks in advance

The IP address for your server changed and you still have your MBC machines configured to connect to the old address.  Thus, it looks for the server at the old location, re trying a few times, and then finally gives up and looks for it automatically and finds it.

In the Config/Advanced page of MBC, change the Server Connection option to find automatically then re-start MBC and let it find the server.   Once logged in again, you can change it back to log in to that server or just leave it on the automatic setting so this won't happen again.

After upgrading MBC, I no longer have  any tabs for advanced within the configurator. is there something special I need to do in order to unhide those configs?

No, they don't exist anymore.  If you have configured the machine to attach to an address that doesn't exist anymore, then enter MBC and wait for it to fail and then find your server automatically and then change the configuration to point to the proper server.

If it is configured to connect to a user that doesn't exist anymore, then you may have to manually remove that from the common config file.

I'm having the same problem of slow startup in MBC because my internal IP changed from 10.0.0.11 to 10.0.0.16. When I check the Server it says it is connected to the new address. When I start MBC, the log file shows that it first looks at the old IP address, then finds the new one. When I check the Advanced tab in MBC it shows that I'm connected to the new address (of course).

I tried telling it to allow me to choose the server, which I did, but on the next MBC startup it still looked for the old server first according to the log file.

How can I make MBC stop looking for the old IP address?

Thanks for your help.

Go to the advanced config page and set it to find the server automatically.  Then re-start MBC and let it find it.  Then go back into that config page and set it to connect to this server.

Thanks ebr, that did it.

I thought there were only 2 settings in the advanced tab for the server: Current Server, or Show Server Selection. Now that I see there's a 3rd choice, it works.

Thanks for your quick help.

Go to the advanced config page and set it to find the server automatically.  Then re-start MBC and let it find it.  Then go back into that config page and set it to connect to this server.

You're a champion!

Yes, confirmed this fixes the slow MBC load times.

If you have your PC network device set by a DHCP server, you need to set MBC to find emby automatically.

Good on you, ebr.
