Admin 347
The "Search" box is available on every page of the forum, but it has limitations, so it's helpful to know a few tricks to get better results. The first thing to be aware of is that searches containing words of three or fewer characters will not produce results, but there is a way around that: the wildcard character. Placing an asterisk * in for the spaces of your search phrase will get around that issue. In this example, we will be looking for forum posts containing "Now TV". Entering it as-is, even with quotes, will come up empty, so let's enter "Now*TV" and see what we get. Now you have all threads containing a mention of "Now TV" within their titles or content. But maybe you were looking for something more specific. Click the little gear icon next to the search field to display the Advanced Search page. In the above image, you can see that there are many options for improving your search results. You can choose to search all titles and post contents, titles or posts only, or you can search by author or date. Below that, you can specify which forums to search in. Since we are looking for a Now TV installation guide, we want to look in the Knowledge Base. By selecting only that area of the forums to search in, we get the result below. We can also use the Advanced Search to search by thread tags.
