Emby on ATV4 support scrubbing thumbnails?

Just curious if scrubbing thumbnails is supported on ATV4. If they are, will my media files have to be MP4 or would it work with MKV as well?

Yes, but only with mp4 as that is the only format the device actually supports.

Just out of curiosity.

 

Since Apple is so strict about this ATM - if the Emby server were to remux to mp4 by default shouldn't that give access to thumbs in scrubbing?

Unfortunately, no.  Re-muxing on the fly is very different than an actual mp4 file.

 

You could use folder-sync however to convert your media to mp4 versions.
