Sony XBR-55X810C MKV transcoding

My setup is a Sony Bravia XBR-55X810C connected via Ethernet. I have my Emby server on my Synology DS415+. My issue is that the Emby server is transcoding when it should direct play my mkv files. According to Sony the built in player supports mkv files. https://docs.sony.com/release//specs/XBR55X810C_mksp.pdf. Am I missing something or is this an issue?

Thanks

I just tried using the builtin video player and using DLNA with the Emby server it plays just fine @1080p

Okay, then let's start with a specific example as "mkv" files can contain a very wide variety of actual video/audio.

Please turn on the debug options in the settings for the app and then go play one of these items for a few seconds and then back out to the home screen and press the "Send Log" button on the bottom row.

Then come back here and please post :

  • the name of the item you played
  • the name of the Emby user that was logged on
  • the approximate time you did this
  • the media info as displayed by the web client for one of these items
  • the transcode or remux or direct-stream log that is produced while playing back this item

Thanks.
