Server Restart Active Warning

Erik

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've done this to myself a couple times....

I have a MB restart pending or add a plugin and do a manual restart. However, I fail to notice if a user is currently using the server (or live tv is recording currently) and it stops recording or playback for the user.

When clicking on restart from the admin account on the web UI, could Emby check for current activity (or recording scheduled within X minutes so it doesn't fail to record during the restart process) and warn/show a list of current activity and a "are you sure" kind of message.

Would have saved me a couple times from myself...

Thanks,

Erik

Yea it's not a bad idea. But you can also just not do anything and let the server decide when to restart.

Fair enough. I just try and update when I see it so I knows it's working before I leave it with the family for a couple days.

Not a priority, just a nice thing for a future update.

Thanks

Luke,

Allowing the Server to decide when to restart is preferred, but I have had the restart process fail on more than on occasion, so I tend to leave it unchecked and manually restart when I see an update. Counting on Live TV for recordings is only reliable if Emby is up and running and restart isn't 100% reliable.

When you are in the Dashboard you can see if anyone else is online and streaming before restarting the server, but with Live TV there is no indication at all in the Dashboard that a recording is in progress. It would be nice if there were a check for Recordings in Progress and a warning stop screen to prevent the killing of in-progress recordings by restarting the server. A 'RECORDINGS IN PROGRESS' view in the Dashboard would also be helpful and informative to better assist us to manage the server.

Thanks for all the hard work.
