Disorganise 15 Posted August 16, 2016 Share Posted August 16, 2016 This has been driving me nuts so I thought I'd reach out to the community.... Rebuilt my media pc as windows 10 in May and have emby server and emby theatre running on it. With alarming frequency, I'm finding that when I switch over to the media pc, it's sitting at the lock screen waiting for a password. Which means I have to go grab the keyboard/hit reset (it auto logons on reboot). I have a TV, the media pc and a FetchTV plugged into an amp. Sometimes switching options seems ok, sometimes not. Last night when I powered up the tv and amp (remote switch power board), win 10 was sitting there at the desktop. I switched the TV over to AV to take a look at Wii fit, and when I switched back to hdmi 2, win 10 was at the lock screen....grrr. I thought I disabled the lock screen in the local policy but.... Don't recall having this issue with win 7. Ideas? (the wii is a new addition since the weekend so the fault isn't switching the TV input [only the TV has the old component inputs] as this issue has been occuring since upgrade.) If you don't care about security (I live alone, so no issue there), just have no password and don't link it to a Microsoft account. I never see the lock screen, just boots right to the desktop. Ironically, i even checked it was ok, flicked over to FetchTV and when I came back it was locked again. Happy to remove the password if that would fix it, but can I still usr homegroup? The media pc is also the media and file server for me. Would have stuck to 7 but it stopped patching even after a rebuild (stuck in a patch, fail, roll back loop) :/ Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

This must be the joy of updating from a corporate win7 ultimate, means no lockscreen, no boot login/password screen. Microsoft dicks around home users for some reason. Press the Start key and type netplwiz on the keyboard (no text box or anything, it will search for you). Click on the icon. Uncheck the box that says "Users must enter a username and password to use this computer." When you click Apply, you'll get a popup asking for the Username and password to use automatically. branma 0 Posted September 1, 2016 Share Posted September 1, 2016 The login screen can be bypassed by using the netplwiz utility to enable automatic logon. But it won't stop the lock screen.
