This is my AV-Receiver which I don't need at all as a DLNA client. I'm only using my TV which works fine.

Any idea how I can get rid of it?

Only way I know of is if your AV-Receiver has an option to turn off it DLNA feature.

AFAIK, next stable will have something to stop this dlna error madness.

I just hope that Emby won't just hide valid entries from log, only unrelevant ones that don't impact on server resources.

I'm running  beta v3.1.106 where it should be fixed, but log is still full of these errors.

Are you experiencing an actual problem? There will still be some errors in the log for a short period until the server is convinced the device has disconnected and then lets go of it.

Ok fine.

Just thought if the log gets spammed with those messages it will have a negative impact on cpu usage

As a matter of fact, I guess you are correct. I've seen strange CPU peaks during those floods, too.

Not to mention the endless uneeded IO writing of disk for the logfile quick increasing

Hi

I noticed that my server logs were getting huge in size 50GB for yesterday and over 60GB today

What is filling them up is DLNA errors "reading" my Sony KD-49X8309C 4k tv

below is an example of what appears to be happening

it picks up the TV, does not have a stored profile, so uses the default profile (fine by me as it works fine with emby client on tv) appears to check again then begins to error (thousands of them a few seconds appart and multiple duplicates of the same timestamp). Then after a period of time stops erroring and starts the process again.

I have also noticed in the server management page the tv appearing as a device then disappearing a few seconds later but at the time it was in standby did not think anything of it initially.

One final thing the errors are getting more numerous as log files are getting bigger by the day todays is 13GB bigger than yesterdays and there are still 8 hours to go :(

This is with 3.0.6070.0, win 10 pro 64 bit

Dont think it did this behaviour on previous versions but cant be sure as logs have been over written

Ps i can uplaod a whole log but as its huge was not sure where to post

Edit - found logs compress well so have added them

one from 21/8 and one form 24/8

oh cant attach rar files??

Are you experiencing an actual problem? There will still be some errors in the log for a short period until the server is convinced the device has disconnected and then lets go of it.

that's definetly not the case here, I'm getting the errors all the time. My devices are turned off for hours now and the errors still arrive.

I deleted all logfiles and left Emby untouched for demonstration:

After 20 minutes the log is 620KB in size.

That is why there is a note for DLNA debug logging.

***This will create large log files and should only be used as needed for troubleshooting purposes.

Dashboard-DLNA-(uncheck)Enable DLNA debug logging

Can you post the configuration section from a log.  And daily logs that size I personally would start over.

You shouldn't get DeviceDescription: unless DLNA debugging was on or you disabled it and didn't restart your server.

As a matter of fact, I guess you are correct. I've seen strange CPU peaks during those floods, too.

Not to mention the endless uneeded IO writing of disk for the logfile quick increasing

Is there an actual problem?

Maybe not inside Emby, Luke. But a software has to care about the good use of the server's resources (Network, Mem and also CPU + Storage, as stated above).

If not... in the future people will be forced to have a higher minimum specs to use Emby.

I hate when topics get merged like this.  If my server was generating logs that were 50-60GB a day, yes this would be a major problem.

Each user knows where it gets ugly at his environment.

In my case... I hate that CPU is being wasted in this little bug (known non-treated error), because I can't spare much and also my transcoding is done via software.

For other people... disk can be a problem. Or even having to spin up drives all the time because Emby is writing logs when it shouldn't

I'm just giving my opinion...

Don't want to be snappish, but if you didn't consider it as a problem you wouldn't have (tried to) fixed it in an earlier release.

Ps: what happened here? Suddenly more replies in the thread I didn't see before?

Debug logging is turned off here, too.

grr would be nice to be notified that my thread had been moved - thought it had been deleted

yes i think there is a problem hence why i posted .....

anyway have given the server and nuc a reboot to see if that clears the problem

i have never turned on verbose dlna debugging because i have not had a problem with dlna

disk space or cpu usage is not a problem for me but will be for others

having verbose debugging (if thats what it is) turned on as a bug is still a bug

That is not a verbose debugging. It is just an untreated error.

Harmless for us and Emby... but annoying for server.
