Hi,

For a brief time I saw an option to transcode DTS to DD in the Android TV player which has since disappeared.

Is that functionality still going to appear at some time in the future or was I just seeing something for a different platform that should never have shown up.

Truth is that feature would be really useful to me and it seemed to work well when used it.

Hey ebr, can you tell us a bit more of the reasons? It worked fine on my Sony TV. Is this feature still include in the Fire TV App?

Found this on another forum, one dedciated to another platform which is similar to emby. I suspect amazon is much more aggressive at policing its app store for infringements. Google is aggressive, but moreso for malware and security.

XBMC and other players that offer license free decoding of DD/DTS risk being removed from the App stores at anytime. XBMC specifically received a takedown request from the OUYA store because of the decoders. Since then they have not been back up in any of the stores as it is unknown if licensing free decoders will cause any repercussions from the owners of the license.

The problem isnt that it isnt possible. It is a line drawn in the sand. It is the amazon app store will take action against emby and strip it of an amazon store presence and request all the revenue associated with the app to be returned. Google will do the same on its appstore to infringers. Each police their stores in their own way.

Better to stay on the good side of crossing that line. Keeping yourself toe to the line is difficult when adding features and making steps forward. Later you find out, oops that was something infringing, and you have to remove the feature and take a step back. These things happen.
