Hi all.

Back when i was using wmc i was able to use pictures for my users. after i had to to reinstall windows i didn't bother to use pictures for my users any more, then a couple of days ago i decide use then again. To my surprise i found that the function no longer exists within the server any more.

Have i missed something here, as it been dropped or will it be returning in some form in the future?

Hi, it sure does still exist. Can you please explain the issue you're having in locating it? Thanks!

 Hi Luke

Had a look on my server (3.0.5931.0) via user profiles, the user i can  add a user image to is my account in the display setting. there appears to a option for the rest of my users. Ii checked theirs via the display settings and there is no option for the other users.

The other users can do that via display settings when they log in.

Isn't it much more likely that the admin wants to add all the images when they setup the users?

That used to be possible.  Is it no longer?

Possible if you check this option :

Disable access to user preferences
If enabled, only administrators will be able to configure user profile images, passwords, and language preferences.

Yea we used to have access to the user's settings page... Looks like that might be gone...   The only way to get there now, that I can see, is go to the user you want to edit from the dashboard delete "useredit.html" from the address bar and paste in "myprofile.html"        Maybe an easy fix is to add "User Profile"  to "..." for each user on the users page?

Hasn't been possible for Admins to control the End Users view for a long time. One of the biggest drawbacks of the system.

That is something that will come back but isn't exactly what I'm talking about here.

I'm just talking about the ability to upload an image for a user from the profile screen in the dashboard.

That is part of the user's view. The only way you can do it now is to log in as the user. It cannot be done via the dashboard.

Thank all  for all your input. I could Only find 2 users on the servers display settings, unfortunately not the users i want to had pictures to to. i would agree that doing it from the dash would be the easiest optio.

On the Server dashboard when you click on users, there used to be a link at the top that you could click which would then take you to the users profile settings, home screen, display settings, etc. That link is now missing for some reason.  Can someone let us know why that link was removed?

The workaround is that now you have logout as your admin user and then login as the user and click on profile.

Seems stupid to me, that you are removing functionality from the admin dashboard, it was much easier to setup everything from there, now we have to logout and login again over and over to setup profile photos, set display and home screen settings.

This is discussed elsewhere and will be coming back.  It just is going to take a little time.

Also, that is not the exact issue we are discussing here which is just the user's image.  Forget about view setup or other settings that is a different issue.

The profile page where the admin creates users used to also allow you to provide the image for that user and that is now no longer there.  I guess it was removed when the specific user settings screen was created since, at that time, you could get there from the admin panel.

My suggestion is to add back the ability to upload the image right there on the server admin profile panel not only because we can't get to the other settings right now but because, IMO, it is much more likely that the admin will be providing the images than the individual users.  So, even when we have the other option back, I think it should be easier for the admin to upload the image at the time of user creation.

EBR,

Why was this function removed from the Admin Dashboard?

Seems stupid that functionality is being removed from the Dashboard, instead there should be more functionality added not taken away.

We don't remove these things just to see if it will screw with you ;).

It is just that, sometimes, in order to take three steps forward, you first have to take a small step back.  I'll say one last time, just like Aaahnold - it will be back.
