When I asked the question before to ebr he said only devices using the prior version of Android will still have vlc options. My case was a nexus 7

Basically, only Amazon devices still have VLC as a player.

The Google versions use Exoplayer, which is the built-in player.

I installed v1.74g of the app yesterday on a Tablet with Android 5.0.1 and still have the vlc option (thank god)!

That's why i ask.

Any device running Android 6.0+ will no longer have VLC as an option and will have the ability to direct stream and bitstream both DTS and DD.

Is it possible to get the vlc option back at all? Or is it not possible.

Cheers

Not at this time on the Google platform.

Is it possible for the issues caused by the removal of vlc to be looked at? It's made live tv inoperable for those of us not using Emby tv and using android

Let's start fresh and see what we can figure out.  Create your live TV issue and send me the log,  Then start a new thread telling me you sent it and the Emby user that was logged on.

I have the VLC option on Android TV 5.1.1, it's enabled,  and I have the issues described relating to the new player.

So it seems having "the option" doesn't make any difference.

@@Luke, thanks for the attention and your suggestion.

What I've encountered lately has been reported by others elsewhere so I believe there's nothing to be gained by reporting the same problem.

I hope they will be worked out in time in the same way as similar problems I've encountered in the past have been.

It's just unfortunate that recent updates to (in my case) the Android TV app appear to have introduced regressions.
