How to see a movie without transcoding ?

Hello,

 

I'm french and I don't speak english very weel,...

 

I have a synology DS214play with emby server and I play movies with Emby for android TV.

I have the same user login and password on Emby and on my synology.

 

When I run the video on my box ( a Freebox ) , video works with DLNA , so no problem with the codec of my box.

 

I want to know if this is normal for all my videos are transcoded ?

The .avi will not direct play.  Most Android devices just can't deal with avi.

 

The other one may but would be subject to the settings you have in the app and available bandwidth on the network at the time of playback.  Also, the DTS audio track may cause a transcode on that device with that version of Android.

I read mine in DLNA with VLC for android TV.
But I can not do with Emby even checking as VLC player.

I think that it is a problem of access right in the file because I can read the file with vlc / DLNA but not with emby / vlc,...

The server log in debug mode together with the transcode log would probably give us a good idea.

 

In the case of the .avi, though - the app is making the decision to not attempt to direct play it because it rarely will.

 

File access should not be relevant in this instance (the Android app cannot access the file system).

Sorry for my absence of answer, I continue my tests.

I have the impression that the last one MAJ of Emby to server improved the detection of my movies, they are now played there directplay.

Small question on emby for android TV, when I click reading with vlc, emby plays the movie with the software vlc installed on my TV android or as I think of it, he plays the movie with a version of vlc integrated in emby for android TV?

I ask the question because I tested 4 times same videos, once .ts, once .mkv, once .mp4 and last time in .avi.
It works all, when I play videos with the vlc installed on my TV android with the DLNA reading (except the .avi.).

On the other hand none works when I play the movie with emby (vlc activated in the parameters). .mp4 in the daytime approximately 5 seconds and cuts itself, the .ts plays the sound with a grey square screen, the .mkv plays the sound without any image).

If TV Emby for android intégre vlc, is it the last version? If it is not the case, we can update it?

It is an integrated version and I haven't seen those problems of playback reported by anyone else.

 

I wonder if the separate version you have installed somehow is affecting it...

I tested Emby after having uninstalled vlc and it changed nothing.

When I play a movie .mp4 in MPEG2, I see on the server “Transcoding” and during this time, the movie is in load (circle of load).

Then Transcoding becomes directplay and the movie continues to load.

Then I see an image appearing in the TV and the movie cuts itself without reason.

 

What log do I have to communicate you and how obtain it?

I activated logs in TV Emby for Android and I have already clicked to send to the developer.

But what may I make furthermore?

 

For information, I have the last version of TV Emby for Android, and the last for Synology server.

Oh, I thought you were on an actual Android TV (like a Sony or Philips) but you're not.  You are using a Freebox.  That isn't an actual Android TV device and I'm afraid the app doesn't support that so well anymore after Google made some additional updates.  Sorry.

I quickly made out a will this morning and it seems that if I converted .mp4 on .mkv, the video H.264 is played.

When I play a movie, Emby server transcode it, while before he read it in directplay.

I suspect the new version of Emby server.

I use Emby for Android TV in the last version : 1.2.24g.

My Emby server is the last : 3.1.73.0 Beta for Synology.

 

My box is the Freebox on Android TV 5.1.1

 

Emvy server is transcoding my movie file when I play it with Emby for Android TV, but when I play the same movie with VLC of the Freebox with DLNA, the movie is play without problem and without transcoding.

 

I test several movie and I test with the Emby option : VLC and without vlc option in the parameters of Emby for android TV.

What are your audio related settings in the app?

 

It looks like it is transcoding it to downmix it to stereo.
