On FTV2, and my Shields direct Playback of Live TV fails.

As noted by other members, playback always results in transcoding. No errors are shown.  Logs are below.

FIOS

HDHomeRun Prime

Nvidia Shield, hardwired.

Never seem to get direct play.

Best I can tell, this has something to do with specific signals coming from some cable systems.  My OTA HDHR always direct plays but some cable systems appear to fail now so we fall back to transcoding so that you can at least watch the content.

Just for grins and giggles, try and see if these channels direct play with the latest beta (.69).

Did this build come out just today?  I thought .69 had been out for a while?

Emby Server Version 3.0.5912.0

Updated my shield to 1.1.69g here just a few minutes ago (Cleared cache, rebooted).  Unfortunately, still no luck with Direct TV playback.   I get the same results as before in my thread (same channels stream direct - same channels transcode):

667(TNT-HD) - streams direct
678(TBS-HD) - streams direct
688(SyFy-HD) - transcode
681(Food Network-HD) - transcode
653(NBC-HD) - transcode
137(El Rey-SD) - transcode
222(Discovery Life-SD) - transcode

What provider do you use?

I'm on FIOS and I cannot get the channels you are streaming direct to stream.

@@ebr do you need a server log?

Server Version 3.0.5931.0 (runs on Unraid 6.1.9 Docker)

Silicondust Prime x2 (running latest firmware 20160328atest2)

Cable Provider - Comcast

Same Network Switch connects both Emby & SiliconDust Prime units - no network hop.

ebr..

Updated to the latest beta 1.1.81g here tonight & I am happy to report that all of my Comcast random Live TV channels that previously transcoded (see posts above), now STREAM DIRECT!!! (as they did with 1.1.46g - with Direct Stream Live TV option - Checked).

I am unsure of the change you made, but it appears to have resolved my issues.    Thank you so much!!!   (I have posted my server log for review if needed).

In addition, Comcast in my area has converted a few channels to MPEG4, and I can DIRECT PLAY those channels without issue as well!

I will continue to test, but wanted to post so MSATTLER could try to see if it works for his setup with FIOS.

I am happy to report the same results with the beta and direct streaming. My setup is identical to what Pancho has.

Thank you @@ebr. Whatever you did that did the trick, it is perfect now.

Is Direct Streaming working with Live TV for FTV2 or Nvidia Shield, or both?

For our internal Live TV implementation yes.  For the externals, it depends.

Awesome. I've been thinking of getting a FTV2 to use with HDHomerun Prime with Time Warner Cable. Anyone with good upload speed has any good experience using Live TV remotely with this setup (doesn't have to be with Time Warner Cable)?

If you are going to access it remotely, then it won't be able to direct stream because it won't be able to see your tuner outside of your network.  Unless you setup some sort of VPN or something...

So Emby can still rebroadcast the channels for remote access, just direct play won't work?

Yes. I have successfully streamed live TV outside of my network. As long as the Wifi connection I am using is good then it comes through fine on my phone and my tablet. If the Wifi is weak where you are connecting though it's not that good.
