App dead or not?

Is this app still in active development? I see that Scottisafool has not logged in to the forums in almost a month. It would be great to see some bugs fixed in this app and maybe have it merge with the Win10 app to become a UWP app and support continuum on phones.

Anyone?

It's not dead.

That's great to hear. It just seems that way. It still doesn't support HTTPS and the dev is very unresponsive.

I don't mean to cast stones here as I certainly couldn't have made the app that we have now. Emby is great and many of your Devs are very responsive with issues. Unfortunately, Scott doesn't seem to show much love to us Windows phone/mobile users. I get that we are a small, small, small subset of Emby users and we get the shaft on many many things. So I can't complain too much. It would be nice to see some things fixed though (HTTPS *cough*).

Thanks Luke

@@Luke I appreciate all that you do for the community but am having trouble believing you. The app dev hasn't responded to anyone in months. He responds on twitter to things, until you ask about Emby, then he ignores you. If you want us to believe this app is not dead, then someone who is working on the app needs to speak up.

It's not like this app was free. I paid $5 for this app on top of buying the Windows version and supporting Emby server. I think we are entitled to better responses than what has been given.

We've actually already answered this question so the information is already available in the community. The video player being used in the WP8 version has a hard time with the live tv streams, therefore it's unfortunately not going to be resolved until the revamp of the app for Win10.

3 months on from when I first asked. I thought I'd try again...

Any ETA on live TV working on this or the "revamp" of the app?

Thanks.

Try the emby web app, a lot of work has gone into MS Edge mobile.

It really is a good temp alternative to hold us over, but I hope we see a new version soon. It's odd that the main things that annoy me is the browser bar, and the playback window, having to hit play in the playback window in and of itself. Also, no sync. Hopefully at very least the Windows Mobile version is pretty much the same as the Android app.

Speaking of that, I remember posting about there's a lot to consider about how Emby will work out on the UWP platform. In that post about Emby and UWP I pondered how a universal app would work, but writing this post, I just remembered that on Android, there's the Emby App, and the Emby app for Android TV. This at least solves the 10 foot vs mobile/tablet interface question I had then, and meanwhile the new UWP app that 7illusions is working on can handle that style of interface. Best of all worlds.

No luck with Edge on the 640.

A new UWP app is being beta tested atm. The plan is for this to work across Phone/Xbox/PC.

If you have access to the testing area, go here: http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/35799-uwp-testers/

So exciting, guys. I love the options. There are instances in which the web UI works best, and there are times when a native app experience work better. Glad to hear (though not at all surprised) that a UWP app is in the works. Hope everything is going well! If you need testers for W10M and/or Win 10, lemme know (I'm an Insider on the Fast Ring for both).

I'm excited for this. With Plex releasing their UWP app I was getting app envy. I have multiple Windows 10 machines I use (Emby server, home desktop, SP3, work laptop) plus a Lumia 950 XL plus 2 Xbox Ones. The new app can't come soon enough.

I'm sad to see the original Windows phone app left behind... Love the look and feel

Can you share what it is you like so that we can think about incorporating it? Thanks.

The overall design is perfect. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this app, except for the Dev has seemed to move on. The interface is quick, with great animations. The remote control functionality is superb... This has been one of the best clients IMO. I hope it doesn't fall off the RADAR. Next to the new Emby Theater, this is my favorite client. I know, the windows phone is an extremely small demographic, just hate to see great Dev work get left behind.

Yeah, it is a bit sad to see the WP app get left behind. I've moved over to android now, but I did like the WP app. I don't know that it was perfect though. There was a lot of wasted real estate on the home page.

Sounds like the developer picked a good user name....agree that sort of thing is out of order and something should be done to prevent it happening in the future.

Nice to see another Dev making this statement. If someone develops an app for Emby and no longer cares to support that app that people paid for, the least that can be done is an announcement made in the forums. Instead, we are being lead on with statements of "it's not dead" even though the current dev ignores everyone and everything.

Hi

7Illusions has posted a few screenshots of the new Win 10 app running on mobile.

Can't speak to the old app, but 7 has you guys covered going forward :) !!

FYI, the Emby UWP app is out, but it's a different app ID from the old Emby Windows Phone app, so you need to find it in the store.

Looks to work pretty well.  I'd say the first big missing feature for phone is selecting a different bitrate for wifi vs mobile data, but I'm sure that'll come with time.
