KarlDag 25
Hey guys, I'm told Emby always transcode, never remuxes, so a fie that could be direct played codec-wise but that is in a mkv might be transcoded and use up all of my server's CPU.... Is that the case? Is that something you're looking into? Seems to me it would save the CPU more than gpu transcoding does, and would preserve image quality. Deathsquirrel 741
No, that's not correct. It will do a stream copy\remux when only the container is unsupported. It will also trascode only necessary elements so if the only issue were the audio for example the only the sound would transcode. KarlDag 25
Awesome news. Thanks guys for the quick answers! I'm slowly moving away from Plex to Emby, I'm finding Emby has lots of features I could really use. I wish there were more clients (PS4, remove kodi for emby, etc) but I can wait Edited February 14, 2016 by KarlDag
