I installed the latest version of Emby and found a problem. Images of actors and directors biography are not being downloaded.

I've looked all settings but could not solve.

Someone could tell me what happened?

People images always took a few days to download for me. Even then not everyone will get an image.

It is not a matter of delay or images that do not exist. The People folder is completely empty. Already performed several times "refresh people" option but no image is downloaded.

Try refreshing a movie from the web interface detail screen.

You say I go in where are the movies and update the metadata?

I don't know what you mean exactly, but open a movie in the emby web interface. click the dot menu -> refresh.

If I'm in a particular movie is. If I in the film enter the option list and start charging, there also works.
It's just hard to do this for all films. There is no way to do this for everyone?

Really can not find the problem. My Emby continues without downloading of films cast images. I have no idea what that is.

Could someone help me with this?

Did you move your metadata folder in the settings? Metadata -> Advanced in the dashboard. If so, does the Server have permission to write to that directory? Try accessing it via the drive address (d:\ServerFolders\Emby) instead of network path (\\ServerName\ServerFolders\Emby). If using the Windows Service, then make sure the user has permission to access these folders.

If you go into your metadata folder is there a People subfolder? If not, try creating it. Normally the server would create it but there could be a glitch.

If you do a search on your server logs are there any errors related to people?

Yes, I moved the folder metadata in the setting. Except that I'm using Windows 10 and believe I have permission to access the folder.

In metadada folder does not have the People subfolder. But when I accessed a movie and display sent the cast, this folder is automatically created with other subfolder with letters from A to Z.

I auditioned for another machine that has Windows 8.1. I deleted all images, nfo files and data from the People folder.

When I sent scan, the only thing that happened was that the nfo files were added. No images have been downloaded. I honestly do not understand why because I've done this a long time ago and there have never been problems.

Yesterday I made some tests in Emby to identify the problem.
Emby installed on another machine that reported the problem continued.
I talked to someone else about it. He also did tests and found the same thing.
In my folder of movies, I deleted all nfo files and images.
The directory where are the metadata, deleted all the images.
I did the scanner movie content but only the nfo files with information about the films were created. No image related to movies was downloaded.
In the Metadata folder, no picture in People folder was downloaded. The folder kept empty.
The only way found to download the images from the movies is going on metadata manager in the Movies folder and send update. Thus the movie pictures are uploaded to the folders. Still, the images of the cast are not loaded. I can only load if I shaped each film and display the list.
Is there any solution to this problem? I do not understand the problem because we always used the Emby as scraper and there was never any problem. I am unsure what to do and I find nothing solution to this.

When I moved my Emby Server application to a new machine running Windows Server Essentials 2016, I lost the ability to write images as well. The issue was permissions. For some reason, even though the Emby user is an administrator and has write permissions to the content directories, it was getting a permission denied message when I was using UNC path (i.e. \\server-name\library\folder) names in my libraries. I know it is a permissions issue with the OS and not Emby but didn't really take the time to figure it out. Instead, I just switched to direct drive paths (i.e. g:\library\server) instead and use Path Substitution for the client apps to read the data. Then Emby could write images to the various folders and all the client apps use direct playback where possible.

Don't know if this is your problem but you might look into it.

In my case, I'm using Windows 10 in HTPC. But the problem is also occurring in Windows 8.1 is that the other computer to a time ago it worked perfectly.

I will better detail what is happening to my Emby

That's my folder where are the movies. The title of them are in Portuguese language.

Below is the content of the Jobs and Captain Phillips movies. The folder only have the files of movies.

The folder containing the tv shows

The folder containing my shows

Configuration of my metadata and storage of images folder

56cf43fb09d24_metadados3.png

Folder where it will be stored metadata is empty. It must be created People folder containing the pictures of the cast of the film

Folder with the places where are my movies, tv shows and other

Configuration of metadata for my language (Portuguese). Ideally Portuguese-br. But in this case, the data returned is in English.

56cf45b56d09f_metadados5.png

After you scan the media library, the movie pictures, the show have been downloaded normally.

The folder relating to metadata were created

56cf48bbef6b9_final6.png

56cf48cfdeeb3_final7.png

So that the cast images were not downloaded.
The folder which should contain the actor Tom Hanks image only contains the xml file Emby. No images have been downloaded in this folder and the other.

56cf49518199d_final8.png

Even after going Medial Folder option and perform the full refresh, no image of the cast was returned.

56cf49c03dad7_ult1.png
56cf49d5b825e_ult2.png

The only way I found to download the cast going in every movie folder and displaying the cast.

56cf4a536a500_ult3.png
56cf4a65bbf6c_ult4.png

Still, that does not always work. I think it must have something to do with the browser cache that does not let the pictures of the cast be downloaded after this is done again.
I decided to do the same thing in the folder where you had a movie Star Wars, and Ewan McGregor actor's image appeared on the People folder. However, the xml file Emby was not created.

56cf4b5d5b5f0_ult5.png

Really I do not know if there is any other setting in Emby so that the cast images are downloaded and added to the People folder.
I checked if there was any restriction permission but it's all right.
Previously I did this with ease but that this is not a problem that occurs on a single machine because I have two computers that are having the same problem.
I would be grateful if someone could help me because I'm already almost one month with this problem and found no solution so far.

This is because the images are not downloaded until needed. We'll have to add a setting to download them ahead of time if that's what you want.

In fact, in older versions of Emby, download the images was done during the Scan Library.
What I understand is that the new versions this feature does not exist anymore.
I do not know if there is any proposal of this feature already returns that I and others Kodi users use the Emby to the scraper metadata.
