ISO Playback Advice

Although I would love to never see an .iso again, we have a collection of DVDs and BDs that are documentary/educational in nature that really require menu support. I've got everything I can in .mkv or .m4v so conversion is not an option for these.

In short, what are my options? DRM is not an issue and I do not need 3D but I would like something more user friendly that dealing with the file system to mount and play ISOs. Playback is on Windows 10.

Suggestions please? Is an external player like PowerDVD my only option? Does Emby Theater support external players for ISO only?

The new app has not yet added external player support. the old app does support them, so you can use that if you need an immediate solution.

Can you expand on why these particular titles "really require menu support"?

Perhaps there are other ways to achieve what you get from that.

Thanks for the responses.

They're heavily dependent on numerous titles as well as chapters within titles.

I do realize I could rip each title and/or chapter to a separate file. However, there is no meta data scraping for them so I'd really have to enter it all by hand.

Besides being very time consuming with the number of them we have, it really falls apart with chapter selection which can be done straight from the BD/DVD menus. So with the disc menu it's easy to pick category, then title, then chapter needed to get to where you want to go. While I suppose I could replicate that in some sort of TV series structure by hand the thought of doing that for over 150 discs is a bit daunting so I figure it's best to explore an .iso solution first.

Okay, but you don't need ISOs in order to preserve that.  You just need the DVD or BD structure.

So, I would still eliminate the ISO format because that is a complicating factor that shouldn't be necessary.

Right at this moment with the new ET you would but folder playback, I'm sure, will get supported before ISO mounting.
