Overwrite existing episodes issue in auto organize

I think there is an issue with the option "Overwrite existing episodes" in auto organize.

I have enabled that option but my existing files (recording) is not replaced by the new one but just added next to the old file.

Is this normal behaviour with .ts files or should the extension make no difference. I think but I'm not sure yet this is just with .ts files.

Delayed reply (doing search research about my own auto-organize question), but to answer your question this is normal behavior, and it is because the extensions are different.

If your new episode had also been a .mkv file (or .ts file, I'm not sure which you started with), then it would have been overwritten.  As it is, the program moves the new file, but there is no conflict as it has a different extension thus making it a completely different file.

I don't see how this would be a metadata issues as it would be the same for both episodes.  I can see it being an extension issue, since overwrite refers to like name.extensions.  Other organizers do the same thing if extensions are different both are added to collection.

i doubt there's anything that needs to be fixed. it's probably a value that was missing from your metadata at the time

I don't know if that's the case. It's only when the extensions are different. If I rename the extension the same as the excisting file it will always be overwritten.

Metabrowser did this always right no matter what the extension was. I have a workaround for my self now by auto renaming all my video files to .mkv. Now if needed all files will be overwritten and I don't get double episodes this way.

I think his point is valid. Currently the "overwrite existing" feature is looking at the complete file name only.

If there is an existing episode with same name but different video extension, that existing file should be deleted, if "overwrite existing" is activated.

I apologize, you are right! (I looked at the wrong place)

Also, I just tested this to be sure and it worked as it should.
