Unable to install BD-H6500

I am trying to install the EMBY app. However I have been unsuccessful so far. Logged in as the develop account. Under the Smart Hub I am going to an installed app and holding enter to get the menu up, then going down to IP settings. In IP settings I put 173 230 139 54. Finally I get back into the menu and select Apps Sync and select yes on the agreement. However the app does not download and install.

The bluray player is fully updated to version 1111.

Same here. I follow the instruction for "H" model and so far, no app is install.

Is there any log on that kind of equipment?

There won't be any Emby logs until the app gets installed unfortunately.  On Samsung TVs there is a log in the Service Menu, but I've never seen anything Emby related in there

This works on TVs and it might not doing anything on BD and HT systems or there might be a different key combination for BD/HTS.  You will also need a non-touch remote to do this

 1. Turn the TV Off.
 2. With the remote control press Mute, 1, 8, 2, Power. It takes a few seconds and then the SM will appear
 3. Arrow down to SVC and press the Enter button in the center of the arrows

Warning though you can really dork things up in there (i.e. brick your TV) and I wouldn't change anything unless you're really, really sure what you're doing

Another option if you can't get it to install to work is to try and sideload it from usb.  At least you would know if it runs

It's working well by USB.

1. Go here: http://173.230.139.54/widgetlist.xml

2. Get the link under the download section

3. Download the file

4. Extract the content on a subfolder of your USB key (like "x:\emby")

5. Plug the key to your BD-H6500

6. The app should appear in the app list.

It working for me but I have to plug it after the player is on. It's like the player doesn't scan the usb on boot...

But, that will be better if i can install it on the internal drive.

I am getting the same results on my BD-H6500. The steps seem identical to the H series TV, but the app does not install. Works from USB fine.

Could this be because the package file name is "Europe" and not "America" ?

I don't think the name of the file is relevant but I gave it a try juste in case... no luck :(

I install a local web server to check what is going on and I get theses logs:

172.17.0.54 - - [05/Jan/2016:18:04:37 -0500] "GET /widgetlist.xml?timestamp=1452035077582 HTTP/1.1" 200 327
172.17.0.54 - - [05/Jan/2016:18:04:37 -0500] "GET /emby/Emby_2.0.4a_Europe_20160103.zip HTTP/1.1" 200 698886

So the widgetlist.xml is doing is work, the app file is pull by the BD player but nothing append after that...

And yes, I tried it with version 2 but same result :(

Any other idea?

Some interesting suggestions in that Stackoverflow thread.

You mean the item order in index.html?

That and the version of jquery. Both could apply to us. The CSS one is very easy to implement so I'll do that in the next beta.

If you need someone to test it on a BD-H6500, let me know!

Any chance this may also fix the problem that a few H series TVs are having installing the app also?  Sounds very similar, can't install app though it works on usb also.   With the TVs it all started with a firmware update from Samsung.  They used to be able to install up until that time

I'm not familiarized with javascript at all and I'm not even sure if this helps but I couldn't load from USB so I set up a web server and loaded from there.

App wouldn't show in hub until I removed javascript objects from index.html, I got away with removing only the first 4, player, audio, screen and network. App showed up but opens and doesn't do anything else without those... .

Samsung developer references are a pain in the neck, I couldn't find many proper examples to compare against, but I did noticed here some IDs and CLSIDs are delimited by single and some by double quotes, ( first 4 are double quotes ), I tried all possible combinations with single and double quotes on both parameters to try and include those first 4 objects with no luck for the app to even show up again.

I also noticed in at least 1 samsung reference objects were used without border declaration, in a different one many more properties were declared and in one other object declaration border value was declared as "0" instead of 0... gave up after this, good luck fellas.. need to sleep now.

<object id="pluginPlayer" border=0 classid="clsid:SAMSUNG-INFOLINK-PLAYER"></object>
        <object id="pluginObjectAudio" border=0 classid="clsid:SAMSUNG-INFOLINK-AUDIO"></object>

Hey @@Gerro

Thanks for looking into this problem. You didn't say what type of device you are running. Can you post the model number please?

The inconsistency in those quote is probably not causing an issue, but they do annoy me. I've tidied them up in 2.0.5a.

You are obviously right that you can't remove those objects without it breaking but it's interesting that this allows the app to load. There are some unused objects though. I think we can remove pluginSEF, pluginObjectTime and pluginDownload as nothing ever calls them. I'll take them out in 2.0.5a and we'll see if it helps.

@@Veers try 2.0.5a when it comes out this evening please. Same for you @@FrostByte if you would.

Thanks guys.

2.0.5a now out. Let me know if these install issue are any better for you guys.

Still no app loaded :(

I do notice a difference: the backdrop is black when I get the "app sync request" message (It was the app menu (fade) before).

Sorry about that. Did you try with USB as well?

Not sure if these are related issues.  It loads on my TV (H series SmartHub with evokit) but I have to shut the tv off after installing in order to get the IP/Port screen to come up.  Otherwise it just sits there and hangs if I don't power cycle first.  Since I got the evokit it always deletes the app first instead of upgrading.

I've done more test base on what @Gerro find and have weird result.

First, I got it loaded by commenting this line:

<object id="pluginPlayer" border=0 classid="clsid:SAMSUNG-INFOLINK-PLAYER"></object>

And after some test, I got it loaded with it! After investigation, I found that I have forgot to remove a ending comment on this line:

		<script src="$MANAGER_WIDGET/Common/af/2.0.0/loader.js"></script> -->

With that syntax error, the app is installed but when I start it, I have the loading screen for about 2 min and I get back to the main menu... i don't know if this is relevant or just a border effect (syntax error lead to not loading pluginPlayer).

Hope this can give some idea...

My H Series TV behaves like that too.

Thanks. I'll follow this up. Need to find some documentation on what that loader does.
