farside847 39
Hi guys! While watching some live tv today I had a few errors with live TV. I thought I would post the logs here to see if they might help. It played wonderfully for 4 hours while the parade was going this AM. but this afternoon while watching the football game it got stuck buffering twice. Clicking back and hitting play again fixed it for a while. I am using the roku client for playback, and I apologize - I think I am one or two server versions behind. I only let it upgrade while I supervise. thanks! logs.zip
Luke 36888
When you don't use the built-in live tv support and transcoding is required, the stream is touched by several pieces of software along the way from source to display. Given all of that complexity, I think 4 hours of uninterrupted playback is not bad. There's no obvious problem in those logs and I think it's going to be hard to hunt down what happened given all the possible points of failure along the way. farside847 39
Gotcha. Thanks for looking! Do you suggest switching to the built in live TV support for better stability? I have put it off due to the cost in getting guide data, but I'm willing to give it a try.
Luke 36888
yes because that eliminates both windows media center as well as the remuxing process that server wmc applies to the stream. Note that this is not finger pointing at all. ServerWmc is quite possibly performing is remuxing perfectly. the point is just about reducing the number of components that are touching the stream along the way.
farside847 39
thanks for your help! I am setting up the emby/schedules direct option and ran into one odd issue. I cant seem to disable some channels from showing up. I have disabled them via the HDHR application, and disabled them in schedules direct, but they still show up in emby after a few channel/guide data refreshes. Is there a way to hide them? I have set up a few favorites for now, but I would rather disable them so I dont accidentally try to record something on one of the disabled channels. thanks! I accomplished this by favoriting only the channels you want in the HDHR and then going in to Live TV > choose your HDHR > check "Restrict to channels marked as favorite."
