I recently installed the Enby app for roku. I can connect to the server, see all of my folders, series, episodes etc. but when I click on an episode or movie to play, it shows a progress bar to indicate that it is loading/buffering and stops halfway through and then reverts to the previous page.

Any help would be appreciated.

This is the symptom of many things. Process of elimination is required. Is the video transcoding? To check, on the server was a transcode log made for this item? If so, paste it here. If no transcode log, what is the media info the server shows? This might also be caused by poor wifi. is the roku hardwired? Is this a roku3 or a roku2xs or some other variant? Would you like some green eggs and ham? Haa..joking on the last one.. But with this information we can better help you.

Going to pick this topic back up.

I have an odd scenario. I have a Roku 2 XDS box. I installed the Emby channel for Roku. I have a large library including about 700 movies and about 60 TV shows and a large music library.

When I open up Emby on Roku, it take a little while (20-30 seconds) for all of the sections to load. Once loaded, I can see them and scroll through the main level of nav. I can go to my TV section and select any show and play any episode without any problems. However, If I try to play any movie, music or play a playlist, the Roku either dumps me back to the main Roku menu (dumps me out of Emby) or it simply reboots the Roku box.

I will also state that I can steam any of the above content without issue via the android app on my 2 Samsung smart phones and on an android tablet.

I'll start with some specs

Emby server Version 3.0.5781.6

Windows 7 Ultimate

AMD A8-5600K Trinity Quad-Core 3.6GHz

8 gigs ram

Radeon 6570 video card (2 gig)

5 HDD's

LG Blu-Ray drive

ceton infinitv 4 cable card

Server and transcode logs at: http://www.kdband.net/emby_logs/

I installed the new beta server yesterday, hoping that the update for Roku will help but it didn't. I disabled the Movie Intro's plugin and that didn't help.

I'd really love to get this all working. Any help would be much appreciated.

Are you on the latest roku firmware? From what i've seen it has a number of playback-related fixes. check under your system settings.

Cannot access a disposed object. Object name: 'SocketHttpListener.Net.HttpListenerResponse'.

Unable to read data from the transport connection: An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine.

Unable to write data to the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.

-------

You say roku 2 xds, but roku 2 had the xs or xd. The xs has ethernet. So assuming you are using an xd, or an xs with wifi.

The weak point is the poor radio transceiver in these older models. The range is very limited, and practically has to be line of sight unobstructed. To solve this you would need to move your roku around to a better, more radio friendly location.

On your roku, go to the home screen. Then press the keys listed below.

Home Button x 5

FF x 1

Play x 1

RW x 1

Play x 1

FF X 1

You will come to a secret screen. Choose the wifi secret screen option. Now on this screen you can visually see enough information to start moving the roku around. Look for the signal strength to rise, and the noise decibels to lower. When you find a sweet spot test your library again. This is the only way to optimize the streaming on rokus.

On the wifi secret screen there is also an "interference" option with ways to minimize packet loss you can try different things on in case moving it around is of no help. You can also turn the "power" option of the wifi radio to full, and see if this makes a difference.

Hi Speechless,

thanks for the reply. I tried several times to access the secret screen but no luck.

As for the box I have, it actually is an XDS. It's a Roku XDS 2100x http://www.techhive.com/product/671496/xds-2100x-.html

I read last night that it's no longer supported and it has an old version of firmware on it. I think my answer is to upgrade to the Roku 3. I'll keep limping along on the 2 until I get a new one ordered.

Thanks for trying to help me figure this all out,

Ken

Update: I just ordered the Roku 3. I'll let you know how everything is doing once I get it installed on the system :-)
