tman 47
I'm still struggling to get guide data into Emby server that can be used by a couple of Roku's we have on our LAN. Live TV works from my HDHR through Emby server, but the only supported guide option is Schedules Direct, which is subscription based and US only. So, I've been having a quick look at mc2xml, which seems mature and very well supported. Is there anyway (or any plans) to allow Emby to use guide data captured from mc2xml? It could easily be run as a scheduled task, and ultimately is just an XML file which is pretty easy to process. It's already used by a few other WMC wanabe replacements. Just a thought. Luke 36879
Schedules Direct is not US only - the config page has a country dropdown and there are quite a few options now. Is your only problem with it that it's subscription based? We could look at mc2xml if it's legal and doesn't require another computer with windows media center. That was one of the big goals of the built in TV function, no external dependencies because people always struggle with them, and their problems become our problems. XmlTV is an open format we would like to support, although whether there's free sources for your location or not is another matter.

Schedules Direct uses Zap2it for the guide, and that does not accept UK postal codes. I've tried entering every combination of code into the Schedules Direct setup, and it doesn't accept it. I even emailed the developer, and didn't get a useful reply. mc2xml (or Webgrab Plus) seem like pretty elegant solutions. Surely if you have a licensed copy of Windows 7 with Media Center (or Windows 8), using the guide data isn't a problem? Surely that's what ServerWMC does anyway. Getting the guide data into Emby is the last piece of the puzzle - and only then will people be able to truly start looking elsewhere to replace WMC. Most OTA digital TV includes 7 day guide data that could easily be captured by a BDA tuner Edited November 14, 2015 by tman

When you sign up on Schedules Direct website just select something like New York and NY 10001 for city, state and post code. Enter Emby for address. None of this part really matters, it just gets you an account. When you configure Emby that's where the lineup info comes from. In the Emby part of the setup try entering the first part of your post code only. If your post code was AB12 3CD, just enter AB12.

Why is emby using schedule direct when you can get the guide data from zap2it without paying a fee?
Luke 36879
i could be wrong but i'm pretty sure what zap2xml is doing is violating zap2it's (tribune media services) terms of use.
