Nexus Player - Live TV Transcoding

I'm using a Nexus Player for my home theater streaming.  So far, recorded content plays back without issue (at least everything I've played so far)  The problem I'm running into is with Live TV.  I have an HDHomerun Extend and it's outputting H264 video and AC3 audio.  Anything Live TV-wise is wanting to transcode regardless of any setting in the HDHomerun.  If I live stream to my Nexus 6 (also on 6.0), it will Direct Play without a need to transcode anything on my local WiFi.  It seems if the Nexus 6 can play directly, why can't the Nexus Player?  Am I missing a setting somewhere, or does the Nexus Player not support what my Nexus 6 does?  This issue was also present for Lollipop on the Nexus Player.  If you need logs, I'll gladly send them in.  Thanks.

The issue is the AC3 Audio.  The NP doesn't appear to support that inside of the specific container the Live TV is in.

It is possible that this is different for 6.0 but we haven't tested it.

My Nexus Player has updated itself to Android 6.0. Tried playing some live or recorded TV in mpeg-2 but still transcoding. I've sent up some logs.

I'm running the latest beta 1.1.10gg.

Does Emby repackage the stream into a different container when it direct plays live tv (or realistically any direct play content)?  The reason I ask, I'm able to stream direct from the HDHomerun using the HDHomerun App (HDHomerun is outputting the Heavy profile based on App Settings) which means the Nexus Player can play the stream as it comes from the HDHomerun (AC3 and all) so if Emby can pass that on directly, the Nexus Player should be able to handle it.  Since Emby is using VLC for playback now on the Android TV, for funnies, I installed the VLC player from the Play Store on the off chance it would make AC3 work since the VLC app supports it, but no dice.   I'm on version 1.1.10g of Emby on the Nexus Player.    If I can help out with any testing, I'm more than happy to.   Thanks so much for the response and the continued work; Emby continues to surprise me with the feature set it's able to provide. Excellent Work.

Actually, what that means is that the HD Homerun app was built specifically to play their streams.

For instance, if I try to play a stream from my HD Homerun via the "Live Channels" app on my NP it won't play, but it will via their own app.  And, as you found out, VLC cannot play them either.
