Samsung App Now Requires Login Credentials?

I was running v.590 of the app then upgraded to v.592.  Somewhere in the process of doing that and lots of other foolish things, since it was sort of working, I'm now required to select the user in the Emby app which shows nothing.  I don't know if it's logged in or not.  If I try to login manually, I'm really not sure which username/password should be used.

I have SamsungLink running on my Windows 7 PC and Emby Server v3.0.5724.6.  The Samsung Emby app is currently v.590 since I thought downgrading might resolve the issue...It didn't.

If I select the only user name I have in Emby server (and that shows up in the Samsung app) I get a menu along the right side with various settings options.  If I select Favourites I get a message saying "Huh.  It looks like I have no content to show you in this view I'm afraid."  I have not been able to see any TV recordings I've done.

What is the correlation between the Emby Samsung App Username, the Emby Server Users and the SamsungLink Username?.  Which username/password combination should I be using?  Should I just set up a new username in the server and will it let me log into it?

Is a valid user required for viewing Recorded TV?

Thanks...Chuck

Live TV is not supported in the app and probably never will.

You need to use your Emby username/password to login.

Which model TV are you using?

I wasn't trying to get LiveTV.  I just want to see the shows that have been recorded.  Nothing shows up in the apps but they do on my PC and on my Android phone (Samsung S4).

I'll try the Emby Username/password I use to log into http://app.emby.media/connectlogin.html.  I thought I had tried that but I'll try again.

The TV is a Samsung UN55F6400.  I know it'll work becuase it did before.  I'll just have to make it work again!

Thanks for the suggestion and I hope it works.

OK, I thought by recordings, you meant from Live TV.

Have you tried just a normal Emby account that is on your server and not via Connect.

I'm not sure what you mean about a normal Emby account.  I only have the user name on Emby server and my username/password combination for other Emby access..

On the server I select a show to record.  I select the options I want based on whether it's a series or individual show and the record happens.

On the server I only have one user defined (Chuck) and it wants a login when I get into the Samsung app.  Putting in a password is a REAL challenge.  There's not keyboard-type input - just something like cellphone keypad only impossible to use - for character input.  I'm trying to work around that,  I'm hoping I just need to do that once since it suggests I can save the password.

OK, try the account on the Emby server (Chuck).

Yes, keyboard entry is a pain, but does work.

I think you can connect a (bluetooth) keyboard.

Keyboard?!?   Bwaahhh Haaa Haa!  I think I know how to work around it.  If I can get it to work I'll upgrade to the latest Samsung app again and hope it works.

I just installed fresh the other day and agree it's a pita entering a pw with the remote.  I didn't have any issues using the IP/port, but I only have just the one user and set it to auto logon and all is good.  There was someone who reported he needed to add a pw to his logon with a recent release to get it to work.  Before I guess he had no pw and it let him logon

I've also had to uninstall and install fresh once in the past to clear out some bug at logon.  You may try doing that if nothing else works

I'm really not too interested in re-installing since the was the start of most of my problems.  I has it working - sort of - before then I re-installed to correct those issues. Once I get past the login issue I should be good...I think.

I've noticed that other passwords are "remembered" from previous activity on the TV.  I think if I put the password in somewhere else (where it's actually possible with a keyboard-type input) I might be able to use that to add it in where I need it.

It's a little tricky now to try this with dinner guests and football games.  I'll make this work!!

I've tried all of the username/password combination I have and none of them work.  I still get a message saying it has nothing to show me but I know it's there.  It's accessible on my Android phone.  I tried creating a new username in Emby server but I get the same messages.  What doesn't it like?!?

So you're logged in OK now?

Can you access Media Folders?

Are your folders on the server set up as TV and Movies or are they Mixed?

Can you take a photo and post here as well as the log (Tools/Settings/Log) please.

I think I've always been able t log into the server from the TV client.  I attached a picture of the server main screen that shows me logged in from the TV

I can't access ANY folders at all from the Samsung client.  I'm able to access my content without issue from the PC and from my Android phone.

I'm not sure what you're asking with the folders on the server.  I've attached a picture of the screen when I select Recorded TV on the PC.  I see all of the shows I've been test recording.  I can play them as well both on the PC and on my phone.

The latest server log - with logging turned on - is attached as are some additional pictures of the server and client screens.  Some IP addresses and password have been scrubbed from pictures but they are correct.

I know this have to be something simple because I sort of had it working before.  I know the TV is connected to my internal network and to the internet.

Can you post a screenshot of your Home page on the server?

Do you have TV and/or Movies defined on your Emby library?

The previous pictures contain a screenshot of the Server dashboard.  That's not what you wanted?  I've attached the screen when selecting Home from the dashboard.  I haven't defined anything for Movies but I have changed a recording path for Recorded TV.  I've attached some additional pictures.  Let me know if I'm not giving you the right information.  I really not sure how to answer some of your question - like folder structure.

That's why nothing is showing up, you don't have anything in your Library.

Recorded TV is part of Live TV and Live TV is not supported in this app.

I know I was asked before about Live TV but wasn't aware that Recorded TV was the same as Live TV to the Samsung client.  I created a Media Folder TV Recorded, pointed it to the Recorded TV folder on my network drive.  There's already a path substitution for that network location as well.  I've added some additional pictures.

Now I'm back to where I was before and wasn't happy with the results.  All of my recorded shows fall into a "Series" folder which is subordinate to "Batman the Animated Series".  All of the artwork is batman.  On the TV client the TV Recorded Media Folder shows but but the artwork is Batman.  If I select Batman I see my recorded shows under it...all with Batman artwork.

How do I make the series I record NOT be subordinate to Batman?  Also...There were some shows recorded yesterday as a test.  These would have been recorded to the same folder but as "Recorded TV".  Can these be integrated with what I'm doing now or am I starting from scratch?  This would NOT be a problem but it would be nice to recover shows recorded elsewhere.

Could you change the Recorded TV folder to be monitored by Auto-Organise and move it to a TV folder?

It should sort out the correct structure.

I don't use Auto-Organise or Live TV, so hopefully someone else can confirm.

I have just started using Auto Organise to do exactly this, get my recorded tv into the series folder, I just point it to the recordings directory

depending on how your tv recordings are, if the file names are Show_Name - SxxExx then it works perfectly, shows are auto added into your library with the correct show name etc

If some don't follow this pattern, then auto organise will highlight the show in red for you to fix, here you can manually specify the shows, season and episode numbers, the recording will then be renamed correctly and moved into your tv library

its quite fresh in my mind as I have recently set this up, so if you need more info or any screenshots of my settings give me a shout

I just set it up...I think.  If I understand correctly the shows recorded to the folder I have on my network drive are moved somewhere else?  Where?

I would appreciate the screenshot.  If this works it might solve some of my issues.

Hope these are some use

I use Media Portal for recording, so yours might be different, but this is how my files get organised direct from a recording, one folder per channel\show

5612b3ced775c_tvrecordingsstructure.png

I now have my auto organise directed to the route recording folder, which for shows as the above works perfectly as they are named correctly

5612b41977945_autoorganisesettings.png

If you check the other tab under auto organise, this is where you can see what it has done

so with the items below (one exception I will mention later) you can see the green ones are ones it has auto renamed and moved into the correct folders for the show

the blue items are ones it has skipped, this is because this episode is already in my library, this is a repeat

unfortunately I don't have a screenshot to show exactly what happens with an unknown, but if you look at the show From Darkness, the original file name (,ts) doesn't mention season or episode, so initially this would have showed up as red, with a drop down to select the show, and then boxes to enter the season/series, I did this yesterday so you can see at the right of that show how it is renamed to the proper naming (these are the only ones I need to do anything with, all others are auto)

Hope some of that helps

Live TV is not supported in the app and probably never will.

I still find this very sad, I don't see why it can't take the simple android tv style presentation.
