blubyu3049 0
I am running the latest Linux beta version on Ubuntu 14.04. On the server, under Playback, Streaming....I have the Remote client bitrate set to 3. I am currently streaming a movie to my Amazon Fire TV (running the latest emby client software) from somewhere outside my home network (location being kept secret to protect my super hero identity). The Amazon Fire TV is set to stream at 30 Mbs. I am checking the bandwidth on my outside connection of my firewall at home (FortiGate 60D) and it says that I'm using around 11Mbs outbound. If I have the streaming throttled to 3Mbs on the server, why is it streaming at a much higher rate?
Luke 37046
We'll have to check the app to see if it was missed there. Thanks.
blubyu3049 0
After I posted that I went back into the settings on my Amazon Fire TV and changed the max bandwidth down to 3Mbs. I resumed the movie and checked the outgoing bandwidth. It had moved down to 3Mbs. If you need anything else just let me know.
Luke 37046
Right, the purpose of the app setting is for you to define the limits of the device and network running the app. The purpose of the server setting is to define any limitations for the server's connection. So that's why they're independent. We'll review the server setting and make sure it gets applied to the fire tv app.

Luke 37046
For the fire tv I think we still have work to do on this.
