Can't login to connect

I've only just decided to use connect.

I have followed this process

a) on my server, under a user account, I added my forum username

B) I received the email, clicked the link, and it came up with a web page saying "congrats your account is now linked" or some such

c) I try to login at app.emby.media with both my username "griffo" and my email address

I just get a bad username/ password error however.

I've even tried changing my forum password.

Am i misunderstanding something?

Cheers

I cannot log into the emby server.  I used the username I thought was correct so it seems i have forgotten both user and password. I have tried to reset the password but I cannot if I cannot recall the username. Arrrg, I am so frustrated. i tried uninstalling, reinstalling, then setting up new but it just ends up giving me the same thing enter user name and password for a different name. It appears it just setup a new name to the same account or I should say two or three as I have tried several times to get around the username issue. Why would they not have a forgot username as well>?  I had both listed but apparently neither work now.  Does anyone have a work around or understand what is going on?

Who would I contact to assist me?  I have wandered on this site trying to find someone to contact. Any help would be much appreciated.  Thank you

Looks like something is broken at app.emby.media, it tries to send a request to connect.mediabrowser.tv which then redirects further and causes a CORS failure.

XMLHttpRequest cannot load https://connect.mediabrowser.tv/service/user/authenticate. The request was redirected to 'https://connect.emby.media/service/user/authenticate', which is disallowed for cross-origin requests that require preflight.

This is causing all logins to fail in app.emby.media for those browsers who respect CORS (so essentially all modern browsers). In my case it was reproduced with Google Chrome.

PS. I initially came here to complain about getting logged out from emby connect when I restart my local emby instance, but lets just fix this first.

Sorry you will have to wait for one of the admins to correct the issue.

I'm also having issues logging in - I can log into the forums, but cannot log in through Emby Connect using the same username and password; I've reset the password a few times, as well, to no avail.

Can you still login to Emby locally using localhost?

Sorry, redirect should be fixed. Trying to phase in a new url for the Connect functionality gracefully, and it apparently didn't work.

I still can't seem to login, have tried to reinstall, reset, like the other guys have posted but no avail.

Is it the same problem as before or is it just me?

There aren't any known issues right now with connect, so best to describe in detail what you're doing, and where you're getting stuck.

I have just installed Emby and started the wizard but am unable to get past the first login screen.

I registered here on the community and am using the same credentials on the wizard login screen but it always states that I have an invalid username or password.

Then it gets really silly.

I click on the forgot password option and enter in my username, which generates a pop-up to direct me to a text file to reset my password.

I then follow the instructions to go to the specified URL to enter the pin code.

The problem is that after entering that URL just takes me to a logon screen where no matter what I enter, it is invalid and there is no option to enter the pin code anywhere.

If I select the forgot password option again it just goes around in the same circle.

So I have absolutely no idea how to proceed to use the Wizard.

Try to proceed with your local server installation using a blank password. You can read more about users here:

https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Users

You have your own users on your own emby server and you get to manage the user names and passwords. The purpose of creating the online account is to make connectivity easier when you're away from home, but since you haven't gotten that far yet, you don't need to worry about that right now.

Thanks.

I'll take a look at that.

Update: I managed to get the wizard up and running and connect with a remote Kodi client at the other end.

Now just have to figure out why after setting it all up that the Kodi client sees no files on the server at all but that's another topic, so will raise that as a separate issue.

Since Plex did away with it's "personal channel" feature I thought Emby might be a suitable replacement. Boy was I wrong, it sucks even more.

I've been trying to log in for 3 days, following the instructions to the T numerous times. I don't have time to waste with this POS so I'm not looking for answers here.

I'm just here to tell you the complexity of your log in sucks and has made me uninstall and look for other options.

Why do you make it such a freaking hard/complicated process for new users to initially log in?  I can only imagine how many other new users, out of pure frustration, have also signed up, spent numerous hours trying log in, then gave up and uninstalled.  You need to work on that!

Hi.  Can you please tell us exactly what you were doing?

You are in complete control of  your users and logins with Emby.  So, you just create a user, and then log into your server from where ever using that user.

Thanks.

ebr you're missing his point. He is saying the login complexity is botched. I totally agree with him. Every single user/client that I add (some tech savvy, others not so tech savvy) has to be walked through the login process by me. It is totally complicated. There are occasions where I even pull my hair out. The other day, I had a user unable to login because the server was added when he was a "local" user. When he created his emby connect account and I added that to his "local" user account, he was totally unable to figure out how to login. It was baffling me... I had to delete his local user account and then he had to reset/clear data on the app and then we were finally able to log him in.

The point is that it is complicated... not that it doesn't work. It only works if you know the exact/precise/coded steps to take. The evidence is in the statistics... Every single one of my clients cannot figure it out. It detracts from them using the service.

In the next couple months we are going to be dramatically simplifying this. We hear the feedback that it is complex and we have a solution in mind. Thanks.
