IMHO It should honour the sort title defined in the server, which does this by default

It does this by default unless you've set a sort title.  The movie The Lord of the Rings would file under L if there is no sort title.  If there is that same text in the sort title field then it will show under T.

I'm not seeing the same problem you are.  The app is honoring the server setting and ignoring "The" for all my movies.  v 3.4.2.337

yeah i fixed it.

 

My movies had a sort title tag, my tv shows didnt. not sure how or when it happened but it did.  i just changed clients and noticed this at the same time...
