See full logs attached. For some weird reason, for the last couple of days Emby program on WMC takes 30 seconds and sometimes more than that to get into Media Browser screen. Not sure if it is a network issue as there was no changes on my home network recently. Can someone shed me some light to overcome this. Thanking you in advance.

You posted a server log and we'd need to see an EMC one but I'm willing to bet that the IP address of your server changed and you had EMC configured to connect directly to the old one.

Once in, go to the Advanced config page and change the option to "Find Automatically".

I also had this issuse,(mine was 1 min) if only i had the answer.

I junked all of WMC  all data within windows and started from the start again.

It was nice to go back through process and see how MB to EMBY has grown up.

However their was a couple of drawbacks with doing this.

1     .You will lose all your viewing marks.

2.     have to reconfig (which was Good a backup could haved helped)

3.     It becomes a bit confusing when marks are made and dont update

on your main entry of WMC Show all Not Played..

However I did see a post that refered to some config

to change the history at Show all Not Played

.which I never applied not sure need more research before

       procceding.

It would have been nice to Backup before I jucked it.

I did notice that some of WIKI was out of date in regards to images.

Please forgive if this not the right spot to make such comments

To EVERYONE its been a long journey I personally thank you ALL.

Want to use wmc and be able to access live tv on a satellite wmc system (one that doesn't have it own tuners), you can just launch/create a link in wmc to open the emby web interface (in your browser) or use emby theatre and the wmc plugin (so you can go back and forth between the two. both have live tv support. Personally im using the browser method (with a little extra code for remote support) and for me wmc has just become a launcher on satellite systems until we get the much anticipated theatre update.

Want just recorded tv only access on a satellite system, no need for emby at all, just rename the local recorded tv folder and replace with a symbolic link on the satellites system and point it to the recorded tv folder/smb share on the main system (assuming your using wmc + serverwmc).

Also if you have another device phone / tablet you can use emby wmc as a play to device and send / start playback of what ever using the mobile device (which has full live tv access in the emby app or a mobile browser (eg chrome).

I can confirm I've noticed this as well with Emby WMC .283 and the latest server stable server build (5675.1). Occasionally, when launching Emby Classic, there will be a *very* long pause until the home screen appears. I use MBPlus as my home screen (Subdued theme), and when this happens, I'll often see 'No Suggestions' in the list of 'Suggestions', and 'Smart Lists' will also be empty. If I back out, then re-load, it's often back to normal.

I've also noticed this (sometimes) after playing media. I'll have pressed stop in MPC-HC, then there will be a very long pause again before eventually the MBPlus menu returns. Not all the time, just occasionally. Difficult to replicate, but I've never noticed this behavior in any server versions prior to the current one.

Well to rectify this issue the work around the i did was I manually set a static ip on my htpc as if you leave it to receive an ip from your router's dhcp server automagically, it will cause a delay as chances are your htpc might get a new ip address after the htpc restart or after you booted up.

Your issue sounds completely different from the one in this thread (and associated solution).

It just sounds like your server is slow to respond sometimes.  Perhaps it is asleep or some of the drives are.

I'm having the EXACT same issue as OP.

Since the update at the end of July / Start of August I'm getting the same issue. About 45 seconds to get into Emby via my Windows 7 MC.

Was never an issue previously and I have dont NOTHING new / installed nothing new.

My PC is plenty fast, so I'm scratching my head too as to what may be causing this... (Not an issue with drives / sleeping as everything is mapped to my NAS)

If you are having the exact same problem then the accepted answer to this issue will fix it.

I don't see how changing my IP to static would help. It has a reservation set on my router and always gets the same address. It used to work flawlessly before...

Will check network settings anyway

The accepted answer for this topic doesn't say anything about a static IP address...

If doing what the accepted answer states doesn't solve your problem, then you don't have the same problem and we'll need to see an EMC log for your issue.

Hey guys,

I think I'm seeing the same problem that's mentioned in this thread but when I try and switch the server connection setting to 'find automatically' it changes back to 'current server (192.xxx.xxx.xxx)' every time I restart Emby.

I've tried to manually change the setting in the MBCommonXml.config file but it also reverts back to the 'current server...' setting after restarting Emby.

Another strange thing that happens that I haven't seen mentioned before is after I first start Emby it takes a while to start up, then it appears to timeout and exits out to Windows Media Center.

When I restart Emby the theme switches to 'Classic' (I always have it set to the 'Chocolate' theme).

This behaviour started around the same time this thread started up (no issues on previous versions of Emby - not sure the exact version number when this started), so I thought it definitely had something to do with the connection setting, but as I mentioned, I can't seem to get the 'find automatically' setting to stick.

Any thoughts would be appreciated...

Thanks

That sounds like there could potentially be issues accessing your disc or, at least, the location where the config files are stored.

Yeah I was thinking that also since I'm experiencing this behaviour on more than one client.

I run Emby server on a dedicated server where I put the media drives to sleep after an hour of non-use but the OS drive (where I have Emby server installed) never goes to sleep.

I've had this server setup for years (back to MB2), and as I mentioned previously the client time-out issues just started in the last couple of months.

Thanks

These are exactly the issues that I'm seeing in thread: http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/26867-no-items-after-upgrade/page-3&do=findComment&comment=297841 next to time-out issues with the webpage and the windows app.
