hardkernel and their suppliers are selling very cheap pcb running Ubuntu 14.04 with a Samsung Exnyos 8 core processor 2gb of ram and many other features for under $100.  These are very fast I have an eval with my work for some projects. Is there any chance that the nas versions can be compiled with the switch to support the big.LITTLE endian architecture so it can be tested?

These are way cheaper and many times more powerful than all the rather pricey NAS units out there.

I'd love to test it if you can throw one out there.  The Ubuntu image that comes with the odroids are fully dev capable so dependencies shouldn't be any issue at all.

Why would you run emby on something what do not have even one serial ata port? For example Im considering xU4 as client for kodi which will be connected to emby but using it as server for emby...maybe after hardkernel add some sata ports.

Another thing is very! poor support of linuxs emby port. First time they fu.k up ubuntu port and later even centos and looks like nobody care. Should I install every 2-3 months some another linux distro in order to get updated version? So forget on some arm specials...they cant even proper maintain biggest distros like ubuntu or centos let alone arm tree.

USB 3 and very large internal drive option why do you need a sata port on something a little larger than a credit card and half laid side by side? I've had no problems with the Ubuntu trees installing and upgrading neither one but if you're looking for ultra new code in the arm tree to be brought in why would they do that on an enthusiast dev board that is unlocked and open to do anything you want with it?

I'm just asking for a test build to try and see what kind of performance would come from the big little 8 core 64bit arch and see if arm is finally getting close to real world media performance on the server side since they own the client side pretty much in numbers of devices.

I've had better response from them than I have from Emby or Plex either one with response to questions. The price point they are putting these sbc on the shelf for is astounding so I'll take a little port issues and keep on going because there's always an answer for fixing open code like centos and Ubuntu but no answers for closed code like Plex and Emby. That's just the nature of the beast indeed.

I dont know about a NAS but these make kick ass clients. Openelec, Kodi 15.2, and the emby plugin; and these are great! I have three C1's running right now and the work great.

I have a q1900-itx motherboard with 4GB of ram and 8TB of storage running Ubuntu 14.04 as my emby server. As well as a NVR (Security Camera Server) and samba file server.

Everything including hard drives, $400. 3 TV's full HD, Easy streaming to my mobile devices on the road. Well Worth it.

Emby is pretty open as far as I have seen. Unlike Plex. I so far have been able to run emby on anything that supports Ubuntu 14+. Odroid C1, Paraella, rPi. The odroid handeled well, rPi was slow and could not transcode very well. Paraella held its own but I was unable to fully test it.
