DAVIDTV1 0
Hi I have just downloaded EMBY (v 3.0.5675.1...) to my Windows 7 PC as I want to stream content from my PC to my Amazon Fire TV. Although I have been able to use your Emby Connect PIN code to link both devices, when I click on the Server symbol on my Fire TV it says "Server unavailable". I wonder if my server is actually connected as whenever I use the computer I need to click on the Emby Server Icon to start up the Server but this doesn't lead to anything. I then click on the Dashboard icon and get the attached screen shot. When I click the restart server it doesn't really do anything. Sorry I don't have any logs but I don't know how to get them. I have deleted the librarydb in the AppData folder as mentioned in a post I read but I'm now stumped Thanks David
Luke 37053
is the local address displayed there correct? if so, try using the fire tv app to manually connect to that address instead of using the Emby Connect feature.
DAVIDTV1 0
I'm pretty sure it is 192.168.1.70 which I entered but again it said Server unavailable.
Luke 37053
are you able to browse and click around the server web interface? it might be a good idea to grab the server log and post that http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/790-how-to-report-a-problem/
DAVIDTV1 0
Thanks Luke I can access my library on my PC and I assume the server address is 192.168.1.70 as that is on the server page I also get this when I click on devices This is my server install log I will do another post for the latest log as it is apparently too big on this emailserver-install.log Thanks David
DAVIDTV1 0
I tried to add my latest server log but it is over 10MB but here is an earlier oneserver-63573890759.txt
DAVIDTV1 0
I don't know whether this is relevant, but my Emby server always runs in a window on Google Chrome. Shouldn't it be running away in the background. Also I seem to have 2 servers for David PC. I tried to delete one but I couldn't. Thanks
Luke 37053
if you use another device, such as another computer in the house or smart phone, and enter 192.168.1.70:8096 into your web browser, are you able to connect?
DAVIDTV1 0
Thanks Luke. I am away for a couple of days but will try when I get home. Did the logs reveal that the server is working OK?
DAVIDTV1 0
Hi Luke I've tried using EMBY on my Android phone. The app displays my server but when I click on the server icon I get a message "Connection Failure". I tried entering the server address 192.168.1.70 manually but got the same message. Then I noticed on the server settings page that the server address had changed to 192.168.1.106 so I tried entering that manually but again no luck. I attach my logs in case that helps server-63574184442.txt Thanks David
Luke 37053
If you enter that local address in a browser, does that work?

DAVIDTV1 0
I use Avast. Is there a problem with that?
matt_ttam123 5
Add an exception for avast, it usually likes to mess around with all that stuff or go into the firewall and allow all connections for it. I ended up moving my install to a dedicated pc with no av other than defender.
DAVIDTV1 0
Hi I've been looking into a number of things. Firstly the only Firewall option I see in my (free) Avast is for me to upgrade to include a Firewall so I don't think that's a problem. I've tried Portforwarding Emby having paid for Portforward Network Utilities. Unfortunately after I selected Emby and tried the automatic "Update your router" option, I got the message that it "could not log into your router" I spoke to my ISP provider (Plus Net) about the problem and they tried Portforwarding 8096 and 8920 manually, however after selecting the these ports for Emby, when I tried to assign the application to a device I could not see either the Amazon Fire nor it's Mac Code on the list of devices. The Plusnet chap didn't regard it as a Plusnet problem and suggested I contact WD (as I store my video content on a WDMyBookLive Duo) So it seems to me that my problem is that I can't get my router to Portforward Emby on either 8096 or 8920. Does that make sense and can anyone help?
ebr 14910
It shouldn't be an issue with your router as you are working entirely inside your internal network (right...?). Can you disable or un-install Avast temporarily? We have had reports in the past of it interfering.
puuto 3
It is the Avast firewall. I have tried and tried to add exceptions but it never likes it. Disable the firewall and it connects no problem.
