RTSP - where to start?

I have an IP Video distribution system in my house.  It provides the sources with an RTSP address.  I can easily set it up to watch these sources on tablets/smartphones when I am on my network as that is all the IP system supports out of the box.  They did tell me if I get a "media server" and run it on a computer then I could "serve up" those RTSP streams and be able to watch outside of my house (Via mobile data, public/friends wifi, etc).

Anyone point me in the right direction?

Plug-ins are installed from the server.  Should be self-explanatory once you install that.

Eh thought I got it - but I did not.

So it works on some formats, but not all.  I can get it on an Android device.

Problem is when I try to do it on the Web client.  My server has my first name as its name, whereas I created an Emby account and used this screen name, eggzlot.  If I am on the local network I can use the account with my name and I can see the stream.  But off network, I cannot connect with that account, only this one, eggzlot.  I did link them together, but if I log in through the system as eggzlot, the RTSP stream is not there.

Am I making sense?  I am sure I am missing something very simple.  But I have two "accounts/profiles", one is eggzlot and one is Eric.  With Eric I can see the RTSP streams but I cannot find a way to view it on the Web Client.  I can only log into the Web Client with eggzlot and no RTSP streams there.

Please help :-)

Make sure the access controls and library access is the same for the two accounts.  Specifically, make sure they have access to "Channels".

Yes both profiles have access to channels and libraries.  Yet still no access.  I would log in under my "server user name" which is my first name (Eric) but I cannot do that at the app.emby.media link.
