NiallWaller 0
I'm upgrading to Windows 10 soon, looking to use Emby for live TV in place of WMC. I'm in the UK and have a BlackGold BGT3595 dual DVB-T dual DVB-S2 PCI card. What's the best TV server to use? Thanks,
Spaceboy 2493
Dvblink here. Couldn't 100%recommend but to me the problems seem to be with the integration rather than dvblink
NiallWaller 0
Was considering Media Portal because I've seen good dev support from them. Are there feature differences to consider or are they all functionally the same when acting as an invisible TV server? In which case more about reliability. Spaceboy 2493
I think there are pros and cons. I've been with dvblink for a while as it worked well ish with wmc. I also need a back end that supports encrypted channels, but I believe mp also has this support. Personally I'm waiting to see how things develop
PoBear 19
I use MediaPortal, I'm in the UK using Freeview, I think Freesat will do the following as well. The biggest thing for me, that I haven't seen any of the other TV Servers do (happy to be corrected) is that it will record multiple programmes from the same MUX, so I often have six or more programmes being recorded simultaneously on my 2 tuners, this also means that it will often preserve pre and post padding when recording back to back programmes. Downside, I've still not got live TV working in Emby, but in fairness I'm down level and need to spend some time sorting things our.
Vidman 589
Next PVR does this and I am fairly certain others can too
Spaceboy 2493
Dvblink does this
PoBear 19
Hi guys Interesting! I finally found the information for Next PVR after about half an hour of searching. The DVBlink FAQs say it's only one channel per tuner, do you have a link to the info?

drakus72 17
Technically it is one channel per tuner, but if the channel is on the same frequency it can record the other ones on the same frequency. example for OTA frequency 563 (Not sure of the frequency numbers off hand so using fake ones.) if there are 3 channels on the same frequency both dvblink and npvr can record all 3 of those on 1 tuner due to them being the same frequency channel numbers 7.1 7.2 7.3 all on same frequency. now I have no idea how it would work with sat or cable, but this is how it works for OTA. Hope I didn't confuse any one.
Spaceboy 2493
For UK satellite http://en.kingofsat.net/pos-28.2E.php lists the transponders and channels. Most of the HD channels are on a few transponders so I get very good overlap. As my pic shows is unlimited for unencrypted channels, 3 streams per transponder for encrypted channels
