MB Classic will not start in WMC

OK, I'm at wits end here. All of the sudden, MB Classic inside WMC will not start, simply goes to the blue WMC background and does nothing else. It even hangs WMC. I have to completely kill WMC. I have waited for several hours to see if it was just running slow. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both MBC and WMC with reboots, etc. I have no idea where to go next, and I'd really like to not have to reinstall the OS. Oh, and I can't get to the MBC settings because they are in the applet now and not the configurator, so I can't see if someone changed something, etc. If there are logs I can look at or share for help, please let me know. I have looked in all the places I know so far and don't see anything out of the ordinary.

Hopefully I'm just being a bonehead and missing something. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

Win7

WMC

MBC 3.0.267 (tried 3.0.266 also)

Try deleting (or renaming so you can refer to it later) your MBCommonXml.config file (in %appdata%\mediabrowser-classic\configurations).

Thanks, that didn't work. I renamed it, tried to start MBC, same. Rebooted, same. Renamed other config file in the folder, same. Reboot, same. Reinstalled MBC, same.

You set your logging level to Error only so I have virtually no information in those logs.  Can you please edit your common config file and set it back to Debug?

Also, ensure you didn't disable logging altogether because those files were very old.

It appears that the config file has logging set to debug. I have never changed it. Note that I renamed the config file in a previous step and MBC did not create a new one. I was going to send the config files over to you, but apparently I am not allowed to send them. Here is an excerpt. I noticed as I was looking through the config that the DaemonToolsLocation points to a non-existent location (and app) on my system, would that cause this? I have DaemonTools Pro on this machine, but in a different location.

Oh and these logs are the most recent ones I have and they correspond with the last time MBC worked.

  <DaemonToolsLocation>C:\Program Files\DAEMON Tools Lite\daemon.exe</DaemonToolsLocation>
  <DaemonToolsDrive>E</DaemonToolsDrive>
  <EnableTraceLogging>True</EnableTraceLogging>
  <MinLoggingSeverity>Debug</MinLoggingSeverity>
  <LogFileRetentionDays>30</LogFileRetentionDays>

Similar problem here, updated from v.2 to 3.0.267 installed fine, configurator works, but MB classic add-on won't load in WMC 7 just blank background.

Log Paste here: http://paste2.org/bDp6Nt3B

If you need more info please let me know

Thanks in advance!

Edit: Also already tried renaming the config file as stated above to no avail

Same thing happening here.  I have installed 3.0.266 with the same resulting blank background in WMC 7.  Configurator works fine.  Same result for 3.0.267.  This is a fresh install on a different PC.  Also tried another PC with a fresh install of Windows 7 with the same result.  Deleting .config had the same result.  On my server I am running MBC 3.0.258.0 with out any problems.  It wouldn't be possible to download a previous version?

Thank you for your time.

Jeff

Is it possible you guys installed MBC under a different Windows user account than the one you are using to run it?

Installed and run under the original Admin account (the account created at the time of windows installation).

Can one of you with this issue please post your MBCommonXml.config file found in %appdata%\mediabrowser-classic\configurations?

Thanks very much.  I believe I have this chased down.  However, what is leading to you guys having this situation is that we cannot find your Emby server on the network so you may want to investigate why that may be (Firewall or it isn't running).

Thank you that did it I feel like an idiot for not realizing the server wasn't installed. Am I correct in my recollection that it was one installer back in the day it's been so long since I first installed it I may have forgotten, either way thanks for your help!

I had decided to try MBtheater which didn't automatically locate the server but in manually logging in I entered the IP address and everything worked fine.  If MBC needed to automatically locate the server that could well be it.  I have installed the latest beta and it connects to the server after using manually login option and entering the ip address of the server.

Thank you.

I have the same problem with the stable release 266 (From a clean install, works on upgraded computer)

With the last beta (269), I can enter the IP address manually and login to the server.

Have you change something in the server look-up ?

Regards.

I uninstalled 266 and installed 269, immediately started up. Thank you, I'm not sure the change, but I suspect that with the new name, whatever path/reference/whatever that was not working was resolved because it is now at a new location. THANK YOU for your help.
