german translation

I don't know if this is the right place, but here are some suggestions for the german translation of the AndroidTV/FireTV app:

  • Freigeben --> Freischalten (still not working for me by the way...)

5543592c3dc22_2.jpg

  • Lief --> Laufzeit (the original one was "Runtime", I guess?)
  • wenn wiedergegeben --> bei Wiederaufnahme (don't know the original english text...)

(maybe someone else is able to translate it better...)

  • Verwende eine benutzerdefinierte D-Pad Eingabemethode
  • Ermöglicht eine numerische Passworteingabe nur über das Steuerkreuz
  • ohne dabei das Passwort jedem im Raum preiszugeben

  • Wie Sie sahen [Movie] --> Weil du auch [Movie] angesehen hast

  • Enter user name --> Benutzername eingeben

  • Hi Tobi.

Thanks for the remarks on the translation. Nearly all german translations has been done by me but often it is not clear in which case the text will be shown, so any help is welcome!

I made some notices to you comments down below:

Freigeben --> Freischalten (still not working for me by the way...)

  • -> Changed it to "Freischalten"

Lief --> Laufzeit (the original one was "Runtime", I guess?)

-> "Runs" was the original text, I changed it to "Laufzeit"

wenn wiedergegeben --> bei Wiederaufnahme (don't know the original english text...)

"if resumed" was the original text. I think that matches best with the english version. Maybe better "wenn fortgesetzt"?

D-PAD Translation:

This was hard to translate as there is no common word for D-Pad in Germany as "Steuerkreuz". This is the original Text "Enables numeric password entry with only d-pad keys without exposing the password to everyone in the room"

  • Wie Sie sahen [Movie] --> Weil du auch [Movie] angesehen hast

-> It seems not to be possible to place the movie name inside the sentence. I dont have an idea for a german sentence that does not look ugly. I changed it to "weil Sie sahen", but that is not even more better. :-)

  • Enter user name --> Benutzername eingeben

-> This one is correctly translated but not shown in the app. Dont know why.

I would use "D-Pad" even in all the translations.  I think that will be recognized by most people, no?  I think attempting to translate it will probably cause more confusion than just using that term.

D-PAD translation:

I'm pretty sure most people know where the D-Pad is, so maybe it really is better to leave it as it is.

wenn wiedergegeben:
I think "wenn fortgesetzt" does indeed sound much better

Wie Sie sahen [Movie]:
Maybe something like

  • Ähnlich wie [Movie]

or:

  • Weil Sie Folgendes gesehen haben: [Movie]

@@Tranquil thanks for translating the interface btw.

About the D-Pad translation: To be honest, I had to look it up for myself to see what it is. Never heard that before and I'm sure, my Mum and Dad (using Emby on an Samsung Smart TV) even never heard that before. From my opinion, I would strongly suggest to keep it as "Steuerkreuz".

"Weil Sie Folgendes gesehen habe: ..." looks good, but is maybe to long. I will change it and it would be good if you can report back if it still fits.

Thanks for the suggestions!
