footose 2
For the last few weeks my Android app was able to stream remote connections without issue. The last update it seems - i have to uninstall / reinstall the Android app in order for it to work outside of my network. Anyone else experiencing this? footose 2
I have an EMBY server on my local network. When I connect my Android device to WIFI I am able to connect to the server, with both the Local IP address (and the outside IP address, if im on my internal WiFi). I know this sounds like a Firewall issue, but it is not. When I disconnect the phone from the WiFi network (internal) and connect to another network (that isn't on my own - such as a cellphone network), I am presented with a "spinner" that seems to "spin forever". This was working before the latest update - there have been no changes to my firewall / machine / android since the latest update. I am able to access the server from outside my network via the web interface, but not via the app. I've included a video: You can see that I start EMBY (while connected to my internal WiFi). It starts fine, and lists the items I have on the server. I turn WiFi off - restart EMBY - and infinite spinner happens. At this point I can connect via my web browser on the device under the same IP address - and it also worked a few days ago - so I know its not a firewall issue. I can access EMBY outside of my network with Browsers. https://www.dropbox.com/s/hqmyn6hooqv33ff/2015_04_06_01_21_26.mp4?dl=0 The second video Shows that If I delete the app, then reconnect (not on WiFi), I can connect ONE time only. If I close it, then reopen it, it goes into the spinner loop again. (I removed the part of the video where I enter the IP address for security.. but i assure you its external .. ) https://www.dropbox.com/s/kv9ofornslkbskq/2015_04_06_01_35_46.mp4?dl=0 Nexus 5 on 5.1 I tried this on other WiFi networks as well with identical results - this is not just because its over 4G ... jamvids 37
Yeah, same here, if on mobile network I get the spinning circle of doom, if I change server and put my details in again, it will give me the user screen and work okay until it inevitably crashes for another reason. Luke 37046
it appears to connect just fine in the log you sent
footose 2
It may connect (in the log) - but as per my video - the interface does not update or show that it connects.. it infinitely spins. That log directly correlates with the "infinite spinner"

iam4uk 26
Emby Server version: 3.0.5572.0 Emby for Android version: 2.2.20 Emby client for Android will "connect" and log in as the last-logged user, and will go to the "Folders" screen per my settings within Emby for Android. However, the Emby client displays no content on that screen, and shows the "wait" symbol (swirling circle) indefinitely. The device (HTC One m8) does not hard-lock, but after several minutes, the only real option is to back out of Emby, closing the application. This renders Emby for Android unusable, so I consider it a significant issue. Any insights or suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks! Note: Viewing the Emby Server status screen on its host computer reveals that the login by the Android client was registered as a successful event. iam4uk 26
Having bought the Android app on its first day at the Play Store, I'm a fan of this utility to take my media from my MB Server on-the-go. It has worked well sometimes, but since it became "Emby" version 2.2.20, it is unusable. I have compiled a limited list of issues I've observed, most of which I've also found mentioned elsewhere on this forum. 1. The app will display library contents when connected via wifi, but not when connected via 4G. When connecting via 4G, the Emby Server Dashboard records that the user successfully connected; however, at the Library/Folders screen in the app, the majority of the screen is a grey background with an infinitely-spinning "wait" circle. 2. The app will no longer play media that used to play (e.g. MKV, which represents the vast majority of my movie storage). 2a. When HLS is enabled, the playback simply results in an application crash and return to the device homescreen. 2b. When HLS is disabled, the playback gives 3 seconds of video+audio, then 3 more seconds of video-only, then returns to the Movie Details screen. 2c. When internal player is selected, the above behavior is evident. When external player is selected, the above behavior listed in 2b is evident. However, finding the .MKV files via the device explorer (not in Emby) and playing them via the external player without Emby, results in correct playback. In other words, media files that will play on the device will not play if Emby is initiating playback. 2d. Other settings, including bitrate, seem to have no effect on these behaviors, even for the internal player. 3. For the limited media that Emby will still play (.MP4 works some of the time), the position/time slider is no longer functional. It always reports that the media is at position 0:00, even if it is playing the media. 4. Emby for Android won't play LiveTV via Server WMC any longer. It plays 3 seconds of video + audio, followed by 3 seconds of video only, then returns to the previous screen. 5. Emby for Android won't show guide data in LiveTV. Emby Server reports that Server WMC guide updates are successful. Edited April 13, 2015 by iam4uk

iam4uk 26
Tested Windows Phone 8 Media Browser application on exact same kind of hardware (HTC One M8). App still works on that platform. These problems appear to be specific to Android. Since they are affecting so many on this forum, perhaps some operating system data may be useful? My Android version: 5.0.1 If you're among the crowd that is having these issues with Emby for Android, what is your OS version? If you don't have these issues with Emby for Android, what is your OS version?
