When I watch portrait taken photos in MBC they are landscape displayed. When I watch those photos in the Media Center image viewer they are displayed correctly. Also they are displayed correctly in windows explorer and Picasa.

Can this be solved?

Doesn't sound like MBC is respecting exif data

Weird, how come all other software I open my photos in are diplaying my portrait photos right and only MBC not?

MBC does not read any exif data.  It gets images from the server via http.  If you rotated those photos with one of those tools such that it didn't actually modify the image, then that is probably the issue.

This is something that would need to be addressed by the server.

Perhaps @@Luke can answer that question than?

i thought i'd wish this thread a happy anniversary and ask if there is any response to this yet? emby is not reading the exif data to know whether the photo should be displayed in portrait, all are displayed in landscape. these are not photos that have been rotated in windows these are photos imported direct from my camera and the exif data is read by windows explorer. please could this be added? its the last feature making photos complete in my opinion.

cheers

Not had this issue before but now it seems to be a problem, any fix around the corner or is there something that I can 'twiddle' on the server? Oh and this is not just MBC it is on the server too

hi, we've been outstanding an answer on this thread for 13 months now. what is the point in implementing lovely photo features in the clients (the android one is really nice) when half the photos are the wrong way around. please, can we walk before we try to run? at the moment we're hopping on one leg

i have to say My problem is with WIN 10 I have found out for some reason win10's pic viewer corrects the orientation on the fly - Then I put them over to my media centre (Win 7) which doesn't so ran them thru pic viewer on win 7 and they are all working fine now - But that being said it would be nice to chuck them over then correct the orientation via EMBY.

This is available in the beta server now, although it's best to test with newly added photos. For existing photos you may need to clear the server's image cache located in /programdata/cache/images. You may also need to clear a cache for the apps you're using. So that's why it's easiest to test with a brand new photo.
