7Illusions has updated his Emby app for Windows Store and we're pleased to announce it here.

 

Important: This is an independent app built by our beloved community member, 7Illusions. The core Emby team will have an official app in the near future.

 

Have a Windows 10 HTPC, Tablet, Phone or XBox? Visit the Windows Store. Enjoy your Emby experience with the same native app on all platforms. Released to coinside with the Windows 10 Anniversary update (ver 1607) on Aug 2. We have delayed the formal announcement hoping that Microsoft would have the Xbox store for UWP apps up and running.
Well.... We can wait no longer, sorry Xbox fans MS doesn't seem to be ready. The app is, it will be there day one.
For the HTPC, tablet and phone enjoy today!

As you probably figured out, if you already own the old app the update is free.

The question is, will I have to pay for the "official" app from "The core Emby team"? Probably free for subscriber, I guess ...

When the app initially was released, back when the project was Media Browser and was a community driven hobby project, it was the official app in the same way as @Redshirt did the official Android app and @ScottIsAfool did it for Windows Phone.

But with Emby incorporating, the company needs it's own app and I'm not a part of that company. Hence, the app is no longer the official one. :)

I of course own this, I watched the testing thread closely with what appeared to be great feedback. Thank you for your continued support of this app and Emby. I will update my Venue 8 pro to Windows 10 Anniversary here soon and of course will be waiting to try this on XB1 as soon as its available from M$ in the XB1 store.

I love the TV guide! It's perfect!

Really? I paid for the app as I believe 7i deserves it, but as I use Emby due to its ability to play Live TV I am VERY critical when it comes to the guide (and I have tons of experience) and the guide in the app is why I will continue to use the Web UI.

 

There are some nice things about it, mostly aesthetic as it does look beautiful, but not being able to load the entire guide at one time is a show stopper for me.

 

I also prefer the Web UI as I dont want newest movies to be the most prominent thing on my home page.

 

All that being said 7i is doing a great job, and I supported his work, everyone else should too, even if you dont use it :)
